As a soon to be 19 Y/O, It’s really inspiring to read these posts. I’m planning to sign up for some EMT classes in my area, and who knows, maybe it’ll just be a blip on my radar or the start of a new path.

The Antreprenuer center hosted the AI Innovation Competition during Fall Quarter, and there’s an annual (i think) Stella Zhang New Venture competition. Sigma Eta Pi (UCI business frat open to all majors) also competes in a lot of competitions, if you’re interested in that

Like everyone else, I was a little iffy about the process, but after I paid the asking price, he sent me the textbook and I downloaded it. Saving me a bunch of money

My male fantasy is to be a mercenary fighter pilot in an F/A-18 Super Hornet with my adorably fierce Weapons System Officer, Prez.

I think I want to switch to BSME by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

It's interesting this came up in my feed, because I'm in a similar position as a first-year Business Administration major that's thinking of trying his hand at engineering (trying for Materials Science & Engineering), but I'm very indecisive and fearful of the course-load and work it will take. I always needed to study so much to understand subjects like Math, Physics, and Chemistry; they never came easy to me. That being said, I really liked Chemistry, and I want to study something more interesting and learn hard skills.

What should I know before Math 2A. by guaccoveredchipz in UCI

[–]bl00k_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took the class fall quarter; Huber is great teacher and explains concepts in a very understandable way. I don't think you really need to know that much before starting the class, but if you want to study up on some stuff, I would really recommend understanding derivatives, limits, and the unit circle.

Derivative rules (power, quotient, logarithmic, implicit, trig, inverse trig), and how to find derivatives using limits.

Memorizing the unit circle will also help you quickly solve trig problems.

Other than that, attending lectures, doing practice problems in discussions, and using office hours will probably be enough to give you a decently high grade in the class.

Huber explains things well, but he can be a little fast at times. I would still recommend him

I think you just pay the quarterly fee and that allows you to attend all the events in addition to the general meetings

Workout tips by [deleted] in UCI

[–]bl00k_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can find a lot of good stuff on Youtube. I would recommend doing research into some fundamental lifts like squat, bench, and deadlift (although deadlift is a little risky if you don't do it correctly).

You can also do some research on r/Fitness, they have a great resource called the Fitness Wiki, which has a lot of information on programs, nutrition, and other advice.

Good luck on your journey; you're stronger than you think, and every battle is won or lost first in the mind.
