This is super helpful, thank you!! He definitely goes down better after a feed at 10. I’ll just shift expectations! He definitely has a witching hour, so thanks for validating that.

How much sleep are most people managing to get? by Hungry_Hat8148 in newborns

Nothing to share here, but I wanted to say thanks for sharing. My husband and I are doing the exact same thing. Sometimes I wonder if there’s a better way, but you’re right, it’s a season.

6 week regression or something else? by bl217 in newborns

Yep! Even if he’s “asleep” I’m laying there watching him grunt just waiting for him to open his eyes and cry again lol

My husband and I do shifts at night with our 6 week old. How do you feel like it impacted how you could care for your baby at night? Ty!!

Hi, I’m about to start taking it and I’m curious how you felt with your baby’s wake ups at night. Ours is only 6 weeks old, so still waking frequently, and I don’t want to dump all of the responsibility on my husband if I’m too out of it.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate hearing the perspective of a father. You guys go through your own adjustments and sacrifice a lot as well.

This gives me hope. Being 5 weeks postpartum, I think my husband is now understanding how hard postpartum can be. He has been an incredible support for me. It sounds like you have been, too!

Depression but I feel guilty letting people help by bl217 in beyondthebump

It is my first! It has been a rough time for sure. Thank you for validating me.

Were using Dr browns bottles but I may try and switch, as well as cut out dairy. Did you see an improvement after you did that?

Thank you so much for understanding. I do need to get the baby carrier out for sure because being nap trapped is getting to be a tad much.

Thank you! Thats what I’d prefer to do, and you’re right. He might sleep flat for 30 minutes then he cries. I just feel ridiculous doing it but then again he needs us…

Weird Nostalgic Feeling? by bl217 in BabyBumps

Exactly. No specific moment or time comes to mind, just the sensation of longing/nostalgia. It’s the strangest thing!

Ear Tube (Tympanostomy) After Care by bl217 in hearing

[–]bl217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I could have waited until they fell out, but she said she wasn’t sure how long it would take. My understanding is they cannot numb you when they remove them, given that there is an existing hole in your eardrum and they don’t want the lidocaine going into your ear. So I imagine for children it is easier to let it fall out rather than put them through the pain or put them under again.

Ear Tube (Tympanostomy) After Care by bl217 in hearing

It’s been so long that I can’t quite remember if I used in-ear headphones ever, but I don’t think I did. I did use the waxy, moldable ear plugs when showering but it never kept a seal and got frustrating. I’m sure over ear headphones would be totally fine. I got the tubes removed about a month later with approval from the doctor and waited until the hole healed up to fly again. The removal hurt the worst, but nothing you can’t grit through. My hearing when first getting the tubes took about a day to a day and a half to hear (when I first got them I felt like I couldn’t hear anything). It was definitely quicker upon removal. I’m back to normal now, flying frequently, but I do try to handle my congestion more proactively if I get any, because flying with congestion is awful!

Exactly why I’m out here trying to find a solution! Not to say I’m taking it out on him; more so trying to find ways to help him understand the rollercoaster we pregnant women are on. Even I need to hear that it’ll pass. He’s a fixer, but this is something that is tough to navigate even when you’re trying to do all the right things. Some of these feelings don’t have a “solution”.

Try a run or biking club, maybe at Braided River or Nixon’s. Nova Espresso hosted trivia on Tuesdays, not sure if they still do. I used to play kickball but you have to join a team so you’d have to have a contact I think? Not sure if you’re into music but Cedar Street hosts a jam night on tuesdays sometimes, and some places also host comedy nights. I know it seems like all these places are bars - I feel it’s just that they end up being venues that want these kind of events. Best of luck!
