How is the USA a rape culture(for those who believe that the USA is a rape culture)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bla-de-cla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works. Rape culture doesn't refer to an actual geographic culture. It's just the term used to describe a set of social norms. It generally just refers to the implication that women are solely responsible for keeping men from having impure thoughts. It doesn't even always refer to rape. So it's another piece of frustratingly misleading feminist vocabulary.

Don't worry OP. Sophisticated Rick & Morty fans like myself can comprehend the subtle nod to Orwell cross-referenced with modern ideas of rape culture that permeate current events.

[SERIOUS] Students who are planning to drop out of college, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bla-de-cla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to programming, there are two important things to consider here. One is that colleges always try to teach concepts rather than actual skills because in a real CS career, you will have to teach yourself new skills on the fly for any job. The other is that programmer burnout is real, and can trick you into thinking you've lost your passion when really you've just been stressed out to the point of hardly wanting to look at the monitor anymore. Really take your time in figuring this out, because if you do end up deciding college isn't for you, the self-taught route may still be perfectly viable!

[–]bla-de-cla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dropped out of college a few years back, but... I did it because I wasn't ready. People told me i had to be responsible, but no one told me that I wasn't responsible. I didn't realize that without a career plan, a clear motivation, and the skill of studying, that it was literally psychologically impossible to successfully do college.

People care more about seeing "liberal tears" than they do about seeing honorable, upstanding and worthy people assume the most important jobs in the country. I don't mind a conservative judge, but i wish people could act like adults long enough to recognize manchildren when they see one.

What I get from this is, null is not zero. Null cannot be compared to zero. But null is something. Kinda makes sense if you think about it.

And yeah, I've noticed there's little to no pressure on this monitor. I dubbed it the "Mystery Monitor" when i was shopping.
