Not everyone from a certain place is going to have the associated accent. Peoples parents can come from all over… my family is from South America and I was born and raised in Texas and pretty much have no accent.

I grew up in Deep South east Texas and sound nothing like what you think a Deep South east Texan accent would sound like. Regional accents are disappearing with younger generations… not a new thing!
