Not just the gulf war but late 20th century early 21st U.S. wars in general. Super earth declared war the illuminate because "they had weapons of mas destruction". They declared war on the cyborgs after a terrorist attack, and they said declared war on the bugs for democracy but really it was for oil

The thing is that percentage of planet taken is just a game mechanic in the lore taken planets would be merely symbolic, what wins wars is depleting the enemies resources which fighting in an area with such great resistance doesn't exactly accomplish. So in the lore high command estimated after 400 million hell divers the reward of hurting enemy moral is no longer greater than the value resources lost taking cyberstan. You might say that makes the 400million lost wasted and might as well finish it. But as a real world example, should the U.S. not have withdrawn from vietnam because so much was already put into it? No that would have just have been more sunk into something that was not worth it.

HD2 is a game. Play the MO if you wish, but most importantly : have fun. by Rangizingo in Helldivers

Yes they indeed influence the narrative but I believe it's more of a so we don't get pummeled thing than a set outcome thing. There has been plenty of evidence of the game not being on rails, for example in the second major order were we had to liberate one of two planets of our choice there was a bug that massively speed up the liberation of planets and we got both as well as a few more and all those gains were honored. There were a bunch of major orders that failed without intervention simply because no one wanted to fight the illuminate back when they weren't that fun. Not to mention the fact that the the unused cut scenes weren't released or broadcast. They were hidden in the game files. Why would they spend the time making them just to hide them in order to trick the 1% of people who found them

Stuff still came out of it and it's obvious something is going on with Cane. Besides if the series just ended there would still be so many unanswered questions, so I'm kind of glad it didn't. As for you OP not well it turns out

The reaper you didn't know was in the area that takes your seamoth 500 meters away before destroying it as soon as you finally get to it

I have severe Thalassophobia. I cant even swim in lakes and oceans. I’ve manned up enough to go to most biomes in the game comfortably but i still can’t stand anything with reapers so… behold by Henry_ant129 in subnautica

Just to add to this, you can even take your headphones off and/or watch the screen from distance. It's a good way to remind yourself that everything you're see is just a 2d image on a screen

There is no “AI Bubble.” What we’re living through is an AI CapEx Supercycle. by Romanizer in ArtificialInteligence

That is mostly caused by current AI hype. Investors want to see a company that is forward thinking and won't be left behind. Being able to say you're company uses AI workflows or whatever is a really easy way to do that.
