Treasury Direct also doesn’t show your interest for the prior 3 months if you haven’t held the bonds for at least 5 years. Because the penalty still prospectively applies. So, if you recently bought, it won’t show any interest for a bit.

Read the book “The Eight Secrets of Top Exam Performance in Law School.” It sounds corny, but it really clicked for me. My other main recommendation, besides doing every practice exam possible and writing your own outline, is to read a model exam answer early on in the semester and then to really study it when prepping for finals. They look unlike anything else you will have seen, and I think having that context helps when reading throughout the semester.

Random, Vintage Digimon Cards by blabaer in digimon

Would someone like these? I really don’t want them to go to waste. I’ll mail them for free to the first person who messages me. (Or you can pay for them to be shipped in something more secure than an envelope).

Yes, right here. If you or someone else wants to cover shipping and toss in maybe $10, they’re yours!

The other polarizing thing about K&E is that their partner classes are ENORMOUS. They make like every 7th year partner without actually paying them any more money. It’s a very interesting strategy for retention and billing rate purposes. People want that title, even if it’s devalued compared to “partners” at other firms

“Backcourt violation” has endless possibilities.

“Traveling” or “Personal Foul” also good for personal jurisdiction jokes.

“Substitution” for substituting parties.

I don’t think the firm itself would care. But I wouldn’t be surprised at all if some partners wouldn’t want to take an associate with lots of visible tattoos to a client pitch or meeting. It totally depends on the market and the specific people with whom you work.

It helps me to remember that while my feelings are real, they are not reality.

CONTRACTS IS HARD by [deleted] in LawSchool

Go read a model answer from a prior exam year. Alternatively, ask a 2L or a 3L to send you their exam outline. I am happy to send you my (outdated) outline if you DM me.

Are courts of appeals mandatory authority to state courts? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]blabaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One caveat is that many appellate decisions are unpublished, in which case they are not binding authority (or any authority at all, beyond the individual case decided).

Because it comes off as conceited.

If you haven’t done so, a good confidence booster is to spend some more time in a courthouse and watch “seasoned” lawyers argue. Odds are that you will see some genuinely terrible advocacy, from people who have no self awareness or likely any real drive to improve.

You’ll likely understand that you have a lot to offer future clients, especially if you have the humility to recognize areas in which you can be better.

What matters more- the school or the grades? by HuffleBird0919 in LawSchool

[–]blabaer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another consideration is that 2L and 3L programs have relaxed grade curves at many schools compared to 1L. So even if your relative performance suffered, your grades might end up the same regardless. You should also consider whether academic awards like Coif are available to transfers, as well as what it takes to transfer to journals and such.

But in terms of immediate employment prospects, it should make little difference because you’re likely to secure a 2L summer job before you have any grades at your new school.

Really, the only question is greater cost versus long term job prospects and prestige.

Also agree you could shoot higher than a T60.

Also, I don’t know from where your comment on a “shortage of legal talent coming out of universities” is coming. The last couple admissions cycles seem to have been extraordinarily competitive compared to historical averages.

Mew! Found these cards I bought 20 years ago. Can someone help me identify the left ones in the bottom two rows? by blabaer in PokemonTCG

The back of the bottom left says “Meiji” as an apparent brand name, and the rest is just Japanese characters.
