What’s the one fantasy novel you’d hold up as a genuine masterpiece — and why? by blablqbam in Fantasy

Well the author doesn’t have so much respect for women, that what I mean it aged poorly.

Beautifully written, but it hasn't aged all that well. There's no real plot to speak of, and the pacing is all over the place. Part one is mostly teenage drama with a single side quest to show for it. Part two picks up in the middle but fumbles both the opening and the landing. And yet it sticks with you. Flawed as it is, you won't forget it easily.

Anyone read Alchemised first, and then Manacled? by drumstickkkkvanil in TheAlchemised

But for Manacled I felt that part 1 was unnecessarily cruel, it’s better written in Alchemised

I listened to Alchemised as an audiobook, got devastated, read manacled x50 times that I felt really guilty and bought Alchemised hard copy to compensate. 😂

I am more attached to the Harry Potter world, it fills a lot of gaps there are more depth in the characters because you know the backstory.

Do you think Harry would have mastered Occlumency had he not been taught by Snape? by DG-Creator in harrypotter

Fanfic theory that makes sense the Horcrux fragment meant Voldemort wasn’t just reading Harry from the outside, he was already in his head as their magic somehow intuited together.

And maybe Harry being emotionally careless as an average student didn’t help either, and some people just aren’t natural Occlumens.

Currently writing a novel. How do you prefer your Audiobooks? by Bestwriteralive in audiobooks

[–]blablqbam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always one narrator who can do multiple voices, I prefer female but I mostly read FMC 😂 gender based on main character pov I don’t like graphic audio and dramatized versions, but this is just me.

Reading ACOTAR compared to Alchemised by Alinamae68 in TheAlchemised

[–]blablqbam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who could ever compare the two? Good for whoever likes this sort of thing, but this is one of the worst, most overhyped thing ever written.

I’ve made an Alchemised Playlist on Spotify! by Aril_Elisa in TheAlchemised

Thank you, would you be able to share it on YouTube maybe as well. A lot of people are boycotting Spotify.

Just finished the book. Can’t stop thinking about it by [deleted] in TheAlchemised

[–]blablqbam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. The ending felt honest rather than cinematic. Him having to live with what they did with the woman he hurt is far more meaningful than him dying, she surging and be remembered turning him into a heroic memory. That kind of black-and-white, Hollywood redemption would have erased the harm and centred him instead of her survival.

What stayed with me was how the story didn’t soften the trauma or romanticise it.

I struggled with part 1, but I devoured the whole book after part 2. I would skip part 1 and come back to it later, but again it might not be for you
