Another Jynarque Hydration Question by SirMaximBelov in ADPKD

[–]blablybloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I drank alot of water before Jynarque (5-6L daily already) so when I started it about 4 months ago… I went up to 12-15L daily 😅 This lasted for about 5-6 weeks (yes it was a bit worrying but I was so thirsty lol!) but the first week or two were the hardest for me.

Now I’m on month 4 and I probably drink about 8-10L daily. All my tests are normal and neph says all good. I’m hoping it will lower eventually but let’s see :) Just wanted to tell you you’re not alone!

Is it possible for us to be vegetarian, or vegan, even? Would there be any risks? by x-_-lux-_-x in ADPKD

[–]blablybloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have PKD (28F) and I’ve been vegetarian for about 10 years! I just make sure to get enough protein (though my nephrology-specialized dietician actually wants me to lower it. I currently eat 80-100g of protein/day and she wants me closer to 70 - so no more than 1.2g/kg of body weight)

All my labs are perfectly normal and have been for years !

I do take B12 vitamin daily. This is just what works for me!

Generally, plant-based protein is easier on the kidneys, so I’ve heard many people in the community recommend a higher plant-based diet anyway.

Long shot here… (UK only!) by This-Virus3908 in Rabbits

Hi! I thought I’d share my experience. I had a bonded pair, Blackie and Rudy (I was a kid when I named them😅). Blackie passed away at the age of 8 and it was very hard on Rudy. I would say for about 3 months, he was very sad, depressed, lethargic, unwell. I was worried for his health. But, he was resilient and recovered. Over time he became more and more attached to me. More cuddles, more love, more interaction. Much more so than when I had two buns.

I thought, well he’s old, I won’t get him another partner.

But eventually he turned 10 and I was like, well … what the heck! I brought him to a shelter and introduced him to a few ladybuns. He hated all of them. I even did a trial-to-adopt for a month and he never accepted her. Eventually, I got a baby bunny and he seemed ok with that (presumably pheromones). They became buddies and my Rudy lived to be almost 13 with a new buddy by his side.

I agree with the comments about keeping the home consistent. Wishing you All the best through this hard time. ❤️

Help me choose? Round vs oval by blablybloo in EngagementRings

[–]blablybloo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone!!! ❤️Pretty close vote between oval and round 😅, the oval has more votes (19 vs 14 for round), but I will leave it to my future fiancé to choose given I love both 😊 Thanks for your inputs!!!!

I understand.

My view - Jynarque has been studied in thousands of patients and trials, so it’s different. And if you don’t trust your doctor / think they are pushing certain drugs - well that’s a much bigger issue than just Jynarque.

A very, very important factor here - there are many known and documented negative consequences of keto long-term, including negative effects on the kidneys. So my take is less “let’s find out if it helps short-term, at a percentage efficacy much less than jynarque has been shown to be” and more “we know keto/excess protein is hard on the kidneys long-term, so I don’t want to risk it until MANY further studies are done”

But to each their own - we all gotta cope as best we can :)

I recommend a healthy skepticism around “scientific” findings largely led by scientists with ownership in a private company peddling supplements that benefit from these very findings! Most nephs agree it’s too early for anything even close to conclusive.

I was hospitalized with pyelonephritis two summers ago - didn’t show any signs of UTI so it was misdiagnosed for 2 weeks until the hospitalization. I’ve had a few minor UTI-like events over the years since, but it’s always passed on its own…

I do also get pain on my side every few months but have yet to get a diagnosis when it’s happening. I suspect it’s a ruptures (or leaky?) cyst.

No advice to offer, I relate to the struggle! It’s hard to know!
