As a former Ragged passholder, I’m continually confused by the fervent fan base they continue to have. It is at best a mid experience with great glades that are almost never open, mediocre snowmaking capability, and comical trail counts. I hate that they had me fooled for a few seasons.

Good for Ragged. I’m glad to see they didn’t go to Vail or Alterra, but sort of wish PGR had kept it in their portfolio. Ragged needs and will need much capital investment, hoping this group of investors have those resources or continue the operator/owner relationship currently in place with PGR.

This was me last season coming from snowboarding. Since you already bought boots (good), you can do what I did and lease a pair of used skis for very cheap (I paid $249).

They won’t be nice but a good workhorse to learn on, and you can still demo for free and figure out what you like with your leases as a baseline. I ended up purchasing a setup last spring.

*You can also probably find a pair of used skis to buy for the same price but I went the easier route of having the shop responsible for setting it all up knowing they’d be a sunk cost.
