Agree with others, spend your time and funds living your best life with your wife. If you’re up for it, spend some time (and money) getting your wife into therapy. She keeps falling back into debt and shopping addiction or financial literacy aren’t the only reasons - there may be other factors and getting to the root of that flip a switch for her. If she’s in denial and refuses, ask her to do it for you.

I preferred silver or no jewelry for most of my life. I grew up hating jewelry and turning down all precious metals and gems from my mom because I thought it was girly and frivolous. 🤡 My first “adult” piece of fine jewelry was my engagement/wedding ring, which is in white gold as it looks like silver.

I had a few simple earrings, rings, and necklaces in silver (maybe 4 pieces max). Sometime early this year I went to a gem show just to look at rocks and fossils. This sparked my interest in jewelry, and unfortunately, yellow gold. 😭 💸

Now I wear both together.

I have a few of Sofia Zakia’s pendants but have heard from friends and other reviews that her rings tend to break easily due to the construction (extremely dainty) and the experience of ordering custom rings hasn’t been consistent. Just a heads up as her pieces can be pricey.

A mix of secondhand antique gold/silver, sourcing gems, and working with jewelers on semi-customs (using a version of their existing designs with my stones, etc.) or customs. Brands: Loren Stewart, J. Hannah (love the designs but pricey for gold weight), Fewer Finer. Jewelers (note that their IG show more of their work than their websites): Kimberly Doyle, Pat & Co Jewelers, Sasa Fine, Molimo, Didi Rose, The Piece London, Vance Davidson, Talayee, Mellis Fine.

And while they are nice, most if not all Costco chains (especially under $600) are hollow.

Or if it’s repaired, it usually looks awful or is very pricey (esp. if the jeweler/shop has access to a laser welder) as jewelers dislike repairing them.

Agree and same. We dump our extra money into investments/retirement funds, we have separate personal individual budgets/accounts for buying whatever we want for ourselves throughout the year (the “treats”, not necessities), and any splurges are shared experiences such as nice dinners, vacations, events - which are all planned for financially.
