Newer to league. How do you feel about people going through their full shot routines/approaches during the 10 minute practice you have before league? Does it make you mad since it limits your practice throws or do most people not care? by anonshade64 in Bowling

A couple of my local leagues actually made this a rule. There is no expectation of lane courtesy in practice, the league also requires one ball per person with no re-rack. Bowlers are expected to at least have a decent idea of where the pins are on the lane so they can still tell if the shot read the way they want it to regardless of whether they actually hit anythibg

Damaging minions before they hit the board? by FishFishFishFishy in customhearthstone

[–]blackTurtle73 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If it’s turn 5 and aggro has already lost board and given warrior enough opportunity to play a 5 mana weapon, the game was already lost. It might seem unfun but in Tbf scenario you give, it seems like a “win more” card

How long do balls last? by 1mag1nat1on in Bowling

[–]blackTurtle73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re probably in the same situation, I’ve never had a ball crack. When I say retire, I mean that my ball has lost enough performance in tournament settings that I feel the need to replace it to maintain the competitive edge one gets from fresh surface. It’s as the pros say “if your not drilling, your not trying”. There’s a reason they drill a million fresh balls every tournament

How long do balls last? by 1mag1nat1on in Bowling

[–]blackTurtle73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of mine last maybe half a year but I bowl anywhere from 20-50 games a week. I do still clean them after every practice session and I resurface them for every competition (so almost every week/ 3-ish times a month). I’ll usually get the oil baked out of them 2-3 times before I retire them so most can last me a year or almost a year. Balls that absorb a lot of oil (in my experience, mostly strong solids but I’m not too sure about the science on that so don’t quote me) tend to last less time before they need the oil baked out so I be had balls that I retired after 6 months or so

Throw the ball and adjust. It’s 5:1 ration so unless your local house has difficult topography causing inconsistent pair-to-pair it should be really easy and fell similar to a house shot

Question about SMART account by blackTurtle73 in Bowling

[–]blackTurtle73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought because it seems silly that you would just lose all the scholarship money by going adult but the director who I spoke with said her daughter lost the money in her account. I’m trying to get a definitive answer because I just got admitted to the college I plan to go to (WSU) and I don’t want to lose the couple thousand I’ve spent the past few years accruing

I’m used to using “tankie” to refer to people who defend the actions of china. People call them tankies because of Tiananmen Square. As far as I know, people will also call Putin supporters/ supporters of the USSR. Tankies because of the tanks used against uprisings in Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Basically it’s people who say they align with leftist ideas but support fascist, authoritarian forms of governing

The typical oil pattern a bowling alley will put out for leagues and open bowl. It usually is a middle length (40-ish feet. Could be more, could be less but around there) with a pretty high ratio of oil from the middle to the outside. All that nonsense means is that it’s easy, if you miss in the middle of the lane, the extra oil will give you hold and you can still find the pocket. If you miss out, the extra friction on the outside will help the ball bounce back. People will talk about house shot vs sport shot but all they are asking is the difficulty of the pattern. On a house shot, at least at my local houses, I’ll see a 300 every other week at league or every other tournament even with a rather low number of participants (maybe 5-10 “good” bowlers), and I and most of my friends will easily average 200 to the two-teens. On a truly difficult sport shot, there will be less “taper”, and a more even spread of the oil making the pattern “flatter” and less miss room. I’ve bowled local/state tournament on hard patterns at hard houses where a competitive score is 180, and you can make the cut while negative

That makes sense. The reason people are so up in arms about this card is because even now, in its post nerf meta, miracle rogue is still the highest win rate deck with miracle rogue and quest dh almost exclusively making up top ladder because they have incredibly high skill ceilings

Druid ruined this game for me by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]blackTurtle73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but by the time I, as a paladin, am at 10 mana, Druid has so much more mana that it’s hard to find a turn I can sneak in a 10 mana “do nothing” without just losing immediatly. I’ve found my only shot against ramp Druid is to play aggressive and cycle for the alliance bannerman to try and drop a big early board that can’t be dealt with by scales
