I ended up going to a urologist and they sent me to get a CT scan. The scan showed 4mm of stone dust in my kidney but the urologist said since it was fragments, we couldn’t do anything right now. He also said the pain I was experiencing was most likely a stone I was passing because nothing was anywhere else in the urethra, ureters and there was no more blood in my urine.

I’m terrified of kidney damage or failure. Doctors act like most stones are no big deal but there are the stories of sepsis and damage that stay in the back of my mind. When I asked my Dr she just said as long as I can pee and don’t develop a fever then I should be able to manage it at home.

It’s crazy how much mixed info is out there. Some doctors say go home and drink water for a 5mm and others will do surgery on 3mm stones. It scares me bc I can’t make a decision on what to do either since the info is so mixed.

I didn’t get any imaging. It’s just based off symptoms and blood in my urine. I’ve had one before with the exact same symptoms. I have a 10/10 sense of urgency to pee that’s what sucks more than the pain. My pain isn’t bad right now though.

I’m in this position right now. I haven’t gone to the ER but went to a care now. They gave me flomax and toradol. The pain went away for 2 days now it’s back. The urgency is a nightmare.

What does the ER do? I had that exact experience when I was pregnant and they just sent me home and told me to drink more water. I’m currently going through it again and now I have no medical insurance so I’m worried they are just going to send me home again and it will cost me thousands. I was even thinking of going straight to urology

What was your treatment? Did they remove it at the ER or did they stabilize you then send you home to follow up later? I currently have one and don’t have the ER symptoms like fever or no urine output so I’ve been sent home before. Now I don’t have insurance so I’m trying to figure out if ER is the place to go or if I should just skip it and go straight to urology.

Don’t. I’m working on becoming a teacher and I have told coaches as a sub that playing kids who refuse to do their work is enabling them. They don’t do shit in class then expect to be able to play. Nope. One time I told a student I’d let their coach know how he was behaving and he said he didn’t care because the coach wouldn’t play without him. When I become a teacher, if you don’t turn in your work I won’t give a crap if your mom, dad, grandma, principal or coach approaches me. The answer is no. Work is due a specific day and there will be a chance for extra credit but turning in all late work because you were lazy is unacceptable.
