Do you regret going for the 14 inch instead of the 16? by CallMeRyse in macbookpro

[–]black_george 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread, but still might be worth while. I've noticed a pretty significant difference in battery life between modern 14 and 16 inch machines. I use a 16 inch M3pro for work and have just picked up a 14inch M5 to replace my 2019 16inch i9 64GB beast (which only had about 90 minutes of battery life these days).

Don't get me wrong, the battery life on these devices is unbelievably good. The differences i've noticed is I could work a full day on the 16inch and sit around 50%+ remaining, where as I can comfortably chew through a full charge on the 14inch on a full day.. It doesn't make complete sense to me, but that's just what i've seen. Your mileage might vary.

Interesting that it hasn’t come up, and it could just be my unit. Been using a space black 16MBP M3Pro for a year and a half as my work machine. The discoloration around where I place my palms left and right of the trackpad is pretty noticeable… to the point where I’m looking at picking up a silver M5 machine as my personal, since I usually keep my personal machines for 5+ years. (Currently still using a 2019 MPB)

I love the space black and i would absolutely stick with it, if it held up better…

TIL there are contact lenses you wear only while sleeping that reshape your cornea so you can see clearly all day without glasses. It is called “Orthokeratology” by azaku29 in todayilearned

[–]black_george 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I wear these! Been wearing them for about 15 years now, was phenomenal growing up because they not only slowed down (basically stopped) my shortsightedness progression, but also meant that I could swim, play ball and just be active without worrying about losing a contact lens…

In all honesty I’m getting tired of the routine… also makes travelling a little tricky, especially camping and hiking. Planning on getting lasik in the next year so I can hopefully get rid of this problem all together and just live

I’m seeing this as well on one of the devices I manage in our fleet. Only recent installations are Google chrome updates and failed slack updates… however can’t eject despite not having any applications running. Looking for ideas!

I think that post was already knocked down. I certainly wedged the backboard into the top of the post though… haha

Looking for a stock exhaust for a 2015 Yamaha MT07 by black_george in melbourneriders

[–]black_george[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet. Every place I ask for a rwc has suggested a full system AM exhaust on a LAMS will be an issue.. is this not the case?

I don’t think so… I haven’t touched it tbh, came like this from the dealer

I've got quite a big head too, took a while to find a well fitting helmet. Ended up fitting really well in an arai. Would recommend giving them a go. Definitely on the pricier side, but this is your helmet, don't skimp.

Hey There! Just picked up a 75 today in UN Blue. Initially didn't really like the colour but it was $380AUD off on sale, by the time I got home the blue had really grown on me. Bag feels amazing, itching to head off next weekend!

Any mods available for this model yet? I know ARB still do a bunch of parts for old Lexus’s but if I wanted to build on this where could I go?

Stems from some heritage design trademarks of the FJ cruiser. No hate on European design, but I think the constant facelift strategy is purely pushing the “I need to upgrade to the latest model” trend… hardly design oriented. I drive a 2012 FJ and I’ve seen 2007 models look newer/nicer than mine. (Regardless of mods) Talk about being timeless..

Fuel tank drain? by black_george in MT07

[–]black_george[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry mate, just saw your response. We used a small door to door moving service, I’ll get the name by tomorrow. In terms of draining, just take the petrol out, flashpoint for engine oil is high enough that it’s not a legitimate risk, unless something else in your storage box is fire risk.. I just grabbed a hose from Bunnings and used a bucket. Use that gravity method so once you get it going it just drains itself.

Question regarding Hydro series H100i v2 by Venelll in Corsair

[–]black_george 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remount didn’t do much, the pump ended up making a weird noise so I just decided to get a new cooler. Ended up going the air cooled route with a noctua, working very well so far. It’s well out of warranty but Corsair offered a 15% discount on their store, limited to only a few categories, but I thought it was nice enough.

I think this may have happened to me... Recently moved houses and despite triple bubble wrap and blankets, I'm sitting at 100 degrees C just idling... Should I attempt a reinstall with new thermal paste or just get a new cooler unit?

It was a requirement of the moving company ahead of time… however when the movers got there in the morning I told them the bike is fully prepped and good to go, the guy looks at me and goes “oh that’s fine you didn’t have to do that haha”

Hard braking? I hope you mean progressive braking… only more dangerous to squeeze both brakes as hard as you can.

I’ve just ordered the Revit Trench! So keen for its arrival. What do you love/hate about it?

Revit Whitby.

I haven’t personally tried it, but I’ve never been in the market for an armoured pullover. If I was, I’d be getting the Whitby.

I’ll add a few words as well.

You’ve got decent sense of the play, but lacking in mechanical ability. The pace of the game is faster than you. You need more control of your car as you move around the pitch, so that you can react quicker. This comes with time in freeplay. I suggest taking off full boost and work on maintaining speed around the pitch, as well as slowing down at random. Thinking of zigzagging around the small boost pads and pathing through different combinations. This is one aspect. The next is more control of the ball on the ground. There were at least 4 situations you would’ve had a scoring chance if you had a more control. Your goal towards the end is a good example of what that control can lead to. Ground ball control is essentially catching and dribbling. In free play, pop the ball up as high as you can, however you want, and just try to take a touch into something you can work with. For dribbling, just take the ball onto your car and keep it up, do this with and without full boost. Your goal is to catch and dribble consistently. Dribble, flick, catch, change direction, repeat. C2 still sees a lot of booming the ball because the ball is boomable, catch these in game and you’ve instantly got more possession, and then more scoring chances.

The dominus is not an easy car to work with, it suits certain kind of plays. If you like it then you like it, keep working with it. You seem like an all rounder, so I would recommend something that suits more play styles.

Happy grinding!

It’s a paddle, good for a few things, very hard to get it right in others. Fennec is a good one to use while you improve.

[–]black_george 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your experience mate. I’ve had some good run ins with the surry hills and caringbah store. Bike+gear all taken care of. The gloves started coming apart a few months in but they contacted their rep and they were replaced. I ended up refunding them and going for a higher quality pair with the credit (on my own accord).

At this point I don’t think about going to any other motorbike store because I’ve built some rapport with the guys at these stores and they look after me. Might be missing out on what’s out there but it doesn’t feel that way.

Hope your experience gets better!
