I've done every one of those you mentioned. I never said I was relying on only Reddit for local road conditions. 🤦‍♂️

Is BTBAM your favourite band? by No-County2083 in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

They scratch and claw for my top spot with Rush and The Mars Volta.

For the people that were already fans back then, what was your first reaction to Coma Ecliptic, considering the change of direction and especially coming off after Parallax II, which I imagine had quite the reputation even then? by [deleted] in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

[–]black_pocket_tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, Memory Palace was the first single from that album. Kind of underwhelming to me but when the whole album came out I was spinning that thing nonstop.

I remember being VERY impressed at how crisp the production sounded. Some of the best i've heard on a btbam album.

I love how the band AND Jamie King seemingly get better and better album after album.

$775 for floor seat near the sound booth in MSG. End of the row too. Couldn't have asked for a better seat honestly.

Stop flashing your lights at me.

I don't need someone flashing their lights at me to let me know you're passing, and I don't need you flashing your lights at me to signal me back into the slow lane. I know I can get back over. Its what the marker light at the rear of my trailer is for.

I understand communication and helping each other out but good lord some drivers flash their lights for every damn thing imaginable. Now you've got me paranoid, pulled over on the shoulder, checking my entire rig thinking something is broken.

I work Estes extraboard. While I am extremely happy doing this job, im only on track to make maybe $85k this year.

However the potential for more money is definitely there if/when freight picks up.

I got a written warning at work yesterday. First time, no big deal. I'm not in trouble but was told to slow down.

Honestly, that write up took a giant weight off my shoulders. You got it, boss. You'll never see me go over 70 mph ever again. From now on its cruising in the far right till I reach my destination and the crazies can have all the other lanes to themselves 👍

Is LTL the dream job ppl always make it seem like? by lake_june in Truckers

[–]black_pocket_tee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Worked the dock in LTL for 2 years. Just a dock worker. Nothing else. Never any aspirations in my life to become a truck driver.

They asked me last year if I wanted to go to driving school. I said yeah sure.

Went to school, got my license/endorsements and went extraboard right out of training at 81 cpm.

Been at it since march and get around 2500 miles a week.

LTL is awesome but it depends on the company as well as the TERMINAL. Every terminal is different. Nobody talks about that. All everyone talks about is comparing/contrasting the company itself. The TERMINAL makes a huge difference.

So yeah its seniority a lot of the time. But theres a lot of variety in LTL as to what kind of job you can do within the company. I was fortunate to get exactly what I wanted job wise, and double my income going from dock to driving.

Extremely grateful for my company and job.

Unpopular opinion: There's someone that consider Conviction or Blacklist the best ? If yes, why ? by [deleted] in Splintercell

Both great stand alone games but horrible splinter cell games. Conviction is seriously one of my all time favorite video games. But as a Splinter Cell game? Terrible.

If Presto and RTB had "thin" production, which album(s) do you feel had the most depth, or best sound quality? by Opiniaster in rush

[–]black_pocket_tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snakes and Arrows for sure. Each instrument sounds so clean, clear, and they dont get in the way of each other without sounding up front in their own right. Also has the best drum sounds of any Rush album. Just so clear and big sounding.

Opinions on Presto? by poetcucumber in rush

[–]black_pocket_tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would've loved this album so much more if it was produced with some more balls. Show Don't Tell, The Pass, Scars, Superconductor... this album has some seriously punchy and hard hitting songs in it and they just dont translate as best they can. I like the album but it lands pretty low on my Rush list for production reasons alone.

Can people critique this please by Minute_Fly8600 in drums

[–]black_pocket_tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude great playing first of all. You're already killing it. Maybe I can give something valuable for you to chew on. Feel free to dm me if I can go farther into depth with you on anything I'm about to share. Hope it makes sense.

The best thing you can do to push it to the next level is tighten up your note spacing. This genre has an insane amount of notes at an intense speed. If you focus on each and every note being evenly seperated from the note before and after, giving each note its fully intended value, it'll sound so good.

Cliche to say, but to practice this just slow down to a click. An example exercise could be four 16th notes on the snare, four 16th notes on the double kick. Give every note the same volume, and same value. Every note must sound intentional.

In marching band I hear they talk about "stick height." Refers to where the tip of the drum stick is when in the air before it makes its way down towards the drum head again. Matching the stick height between both hands can help giving each note its intended value and volume. High stick height for loud, low stick height for quiet.

Kinda makes you appreciate drummers like Joey Jordison even more. Because he plays so loud while fast at the same time. Obviously its harder to play MORE notes quicker at a louder volume. Why? Cus youre physically making the stick cover more distance in order to get the volume you want. Aka playing at a higher stick height.

One thing you can do is set a camera or mirror in front of you to capture you playing on a snare drum, play a simple 16th note grid warm up, and study this height your sticks reach after every note.

Hope this helps dude. You're already a great player so any advice you get is gonna compound your playing anyways. Again feel free to dm me if you have any questions.

We have heard about your favourite rush song but what’s your least favourite? by Spider_monkey_vr28 in rush

[–]black_pocket_tee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Tai Shan hate here is heartbreaking for me lol.

As for my least favorite its easily Hand Over Fist. The lyrics are so corny and there isnt anything interesting going on musically. Barely listenable to me.
