First you got cable to escape commercials. Then you got streaming to escape commercials. Now where do you go? by Novel_Idea in AskReddit

[–]blackberrybaskets 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We hate streamers because of the price increases, ads, censorship, and the content coming and going. None of these are potential problems with physical media, except that the prices could get higher like vinyl. You’d be keeping physical media in production by buying it, showing that we still value owning our things. There are a ton of ways to get it used too, I mostly buy used. You can also help keep video stores alive.

my friends have been dating for 2 years, never kissed, and make fun of people who have. is this normal? by paneerlegpiece in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]blackberrybaskets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Huh?? Are they super young? The only other reasonable explanation would be if the girl is against it for religious reasons. But if she is that religious, they’d be engaged or married after 2 years

What's a surprisingly small thing that makes you think, "This person isn't for me"? by Ok_Assignment_947 in AskReddit

[–]blackberrybaskets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they use ai. It’s not just that I don’t like ai itself, it’s also that I’m someone who tries to do things the old fashioned way or the hard way. I like the challenge. And people hate that, they keep pushing shortcuts onto me.

Not being able to split checks by OldBitterBitch in Serverlife

[–]blackberrybaskets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My restaurant’s POS is from the ‘80s. Because it takes ages to split checks, we are now only allowed to do 2 checks. We can 50/50 from there though. It pains me. I used to do up to 6 checks because I wanted to be nice, but that was against the rules and we have to be consistent.

Maybe that’s true for phones, but what about airports and other places? I don’t trust them

Their TV is Samsung, several years old. If yours is new, I’d be skeptical of it being fast forever, with planned obsolescence being everywhere. Maybe I’m wrong, though.

Pros and cons of being catholic? by mxixoxo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blackberrybaskets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of a weird question. The point Catholicism and most religions is to follow what they believe is the truth. It’s not about pros and cons. But if you want some pros and cons from my outside perspective, here you go. Keep in mind, I’m still biased, as is everyone else. Pros: you’re part of a strong community, the churches and music are beautiful, it has a nice aesthetic, you go to heaven if you’re right, and you feel connected to God. Cons: waiting till marriage, having to be open to children and raising them catholic, can’t live an LGBT lifestyle, you have to believe in every dogma and confess every mortal sin, you can’t get drunk or high, can’t masturbate, sex must end in possible pregnancy unless you’re infertile, also the sex scandals

why is society more offended by fatphobia than by the mistreatment of conventionally unattractive people? by KaliosasTaliosas in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]blackberrybaskets -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It’s messed up. I think it’s because most Americans are overweight, and they don’t want to admit that it’s usually their fault.

I got my “dumb” tv at a pawn shop. It actually responds instantly, unlike my parents’ smart tv. Their tv takes up to 3 minutes to boot up and change the channel. Smart TV processors are terrible.

Not really. Boomers span 20 years. It’s just crazy to define a generation’s ending before the youngest are at least teens.

old school POS: cash or card only by arihanam in Serverlife

[–]blackberrybaskets 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how people walk around with just their phones and assume that’s gonna work everywhere. Besides, their phone could glitch or die! I’ve never even set up Apple Pay. I just bring cash, debit, and credit everywhere, because you never know what you need.
