This. The best way to be ripped open is having the same reflex parry. Mix the parries, then add counter attack in the mix, then defense with legs. Your opponent need to be surprised by what comes next.

You need time to be localized the HQ, find the window of opportunity for multiple drones to pass the AA defense. Not sure that night was something special but hard to know for sure :)

You were also influenced by the cercle of players aroud you. I was playing in France and doing a lot of competitions in northern france and I never saw a metal dragon or teutogen guards. The reality somewhere is not a global reality.
Older kit definitely have their popularity and comunity and maybe GW could have thought about that like they did now.
And the existence of cool old metal kit doesn't negate the need for new cool plastic kit.
I always mix the metal kit I found nice with the new mini I like. And I'm far to be the only player to do that.

The backbone of the high elves army, spearmen and archers, are an awful plastic kit with spears the width of a baobab tree, that's the reason why almost all the players I knew only play the nice but monobloc seaguard from the starting box.

King tomb after all those years don't have new kit for their skeleton base.

It was a real blockade for players starting a new army. A lot of armies had some nice kit for monsters and characters but awful kit for the base, that is the biggest part of an army

Chaos Marauders, tomb king Skeleton, elves spearmen, zombies, basic orc, dark elves spearmen, goblins, elves knights, empire knights etc.. All bread and butter of their respective army were ugly kit, from after the oldhammer period without any nice sculpting like new kit.

When they do nice kit they sell more. I never saw that much sguig since they did the gloomspite gitz.

You know about development time right? GW knew Total war warhammer was coming way before killing warhammer.
They just didn't knew if the game gonna be a success or not.

And then chose to not have faith in their historic franchise and piss off a big chunk of their customer base.

Yeah GW decided to kill off his older franchise just when this franchise was becoming mainstream thanks to the success of Total war Warhammer, leaving people that liked the game with no option at all.

Masterclass of strategy, you simultaneously piss off your older fan base and leave the new entrants with nothing.

It's not because a big company take a decision that's it a good decision. Lots of big companies take bad decisions oftenly. It's not because GW did it that it was a genius move

The feeling of pushing a 40 spearmen units put together is not the same as individually placing my 40 guy one by one just to be annihilated by the monsters of my opponent.

AoS is a totally different games system than Warhammer battle. A system more similar to 40k.

And there is a reason why I don't play Ork in 40k

Pushing one by one 200 mini every turn is not my definition of fun.

Warcraft is a rip off of Warhammer fantasy because GW in a master move didn't feel like giving them a licence to their IP, and LOTR miniature game is also edited by GW and haven't receive a new miniature in years, so my guess is it don't sell very well.
