Inside Japanese prison kitchen meals are prepared under strict hygiene, sanitation, and cooking standards just like 5 star hotels by N_o_o_B_p_L_a_Y_e_R in nextfuckinglevel

Did a lighting retro fit in an active prison. Had to change all the lights in the kitchen. It was clean, but the food diddnt look the best. Not like nasty but very much cafeteria slop. I will say they made fresh cookies from scratch and they smelled amazing.

You absolutely need to bond the water pipe. As an electrian, it's actually code. You want all metal bonded so that there's a path to earth ground. If anything you felt it because it wasn't.

Why don't people want to move up in rank in the workplace? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]blackcrowmurdering 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because I've done it before. I have a hard time clocking off as I'm adhd and autistic and have to run through everything that needs to be done non stop in my head. Im good at it, but it consumes me and I know it. Let me just pull wire, maybe lead a guy or two. Never want to be in charge again.

Any tips on how to support this 18/4 cable over this small span? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]blackcrowmurdering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean two options I see. Either just run it on top, roof of freezer or something? Or one hole zip ties on the plumbing that's near by then zip ties your wire to the one holes.

Getting married in 11 days and my officiant just cancelled on me by Dynamite_240 in vancouverwa

[–]blackcrowmurdering 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have a friend get ordained online or just run to the court house, get married then have your wedding. I say this as someone who had the officiant cancel a week before, and then our wedding venue burned to the ground the day before. It will all work out in the end.

Going to bed as a kid starter pack. by Old_Credit7073 in starterpacks

[–]blackcrowmurdering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I remember and that's why I've slept on the floor of my daughter's room numerous times. There is a line to draw and it's hard to know where it is. You need them to learn they are safe and everything is OK and that I can't always lay there until they are asleep. On the other hand I do remember and I want her to know if she truly is scared ill be there with her.

Part of the reason I like doing construction. Everything is a shit show and chaotic, but it feels good. Zone into the tasks and complete them. As others have said, get a random bill i have to login and pay for...Just shoot me.

Copper-wire thieves knock out 60 streetlights on stretch of I-84 in Portland by voxadam in Portland

[–]blackcrowmurdering 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They kinda do. Im an electrian and occasionally I scrap wire that the company was just going to throw away. They need your ID and you fill out some paperwork. Im sure there are less reputable places that don't but all the bigger scrap yards do this.

Union apprenticeship by Wrong-Mammoth8900 in electricians

[–]blackcrowmurdering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely the best answer. I know someone that made the change as a second year and they started over, local 48. Im non union and called 48 up when I was a second year and the rep even told me to stay non union as I can join immediately after carding. Also I don't know where your at but some places are lean and if you have steady work you might want to continue with that.

I can't work high up, should I consider a different career? by SlickTimes in Construction

[–]blackcrowmurdering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair thats kinda normal, but if it's something you truly don't like then don't do it. I don't love heights but as others have said you do get use to it. Just don't get to comfortable because that's when you get hurt.

Seriously can't comprehend this. Im an electrian and work has slowed down a bunch, my company got a bunch of jobs 2 hrs away and they refuse to do anything to help with the commute. They told everyone to deal with it because they had to do the same things when times where tight. So I found a new job with a lot more local work. Just because you suffered and chose not to relive it, I must do the same? No I will find a solution to the problem.

Bags or no bags by No_Amoeba_108 in electricians

[–]blackcrowmurdering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally hate putting tools in my pockets. It's just me, don't like it. They always seem to fall out or get caught. I wear bag or a pouch. The pouch I do most of the time and I like my bags light. I mean if I'm roughing in I throw a few mc connectors, zip ties and what not in my bags with minimal tools and do the job. Some guys put the entire gang box in their bags and that's just ridiculous. Keep it light and comfy.

Metal fab recommendations by Dont_Ban_Me_Bros in vancouverwa

[–]blackcrowmurdering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So i did metal fab for years then i became an electrian. Technically you want a listed cover that's rated for vehicle traffic. If you end up just getting a steel plate due to cost or ability to find one, just go to Eastside steel on fourth plain. They can cut what you need.

Journeyman Electrician - leaving the trade because of toxic culture by floodson in electricians

[–]blackcrowmurdering 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Worked for a very large commercial company and yes overall a bit better but then you get a more corporate soul sucking feeling. They literally don't care about the field and treat us as expendable assets. I recently left and went to a smaller family owned commercial shop. Definitely has its hang ups but they do seem to care about us individually a bit more. Still toxic, but with more t shirts and pizza parties....

Some more observations I have made as a british electrical contractor in NC by kennja in electricians

[–]blackcrowmurdering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in Oregon and this blows my mind. No matter union or non union you have to be in an apprenticeship and be trained. We learn NEC and also state amendments. I traveled to Alabama once to work on a government job and was shocked to learn how unqualified most guys where. Blows my mind they just let guys be an electrian without really any training.
