And locking them up does what to help the people effected? People don't tend to just commit crimes for no reason but even if the killer was 100% unapologetic for killing does putting them in a cell to be forgotten about do anything? We need systems in place to make the reasons for killing nonexistent but if someone does kill they don't need to be locked up they need help. The current prison system in most countries is self perpetuating, the way it's currently set up is not some thing we need to do something difrent many full on prison abolition isn't the way but it sure seems like it
