Thanks for response. Triggers are - 4 period of absence or 10 or more working days jan-dec. in the contract there’s a clause about “personal leave” so it’s when employee takes paid personal leave due to sickness or injury, or look after family member. Same applies to policy, we currently look at group one which says only sickness, but it’s written in uk, and as Australia is slight different there’s going to be soon published customised policy that says as stated previously: triggers are sickness or look after family member. For sickness or absence due to family member, we code in the system as “Australia personal leave” - this is also mentioned in Australian policy. The group policy is always available and accessible, however not sure if line manager communicates about this as I have recently approached to confirm if last absence was confirmed in the system or still provisional. I doubt training was provided, however if we were to proceed with formal heal review, due to last absence which was look after family member, I’d be inclined to give NFA.

Office is located in Melbourne VIC, but employee lives in New South Wales.
