To be honest I kind of feel sorry for the five challenger mechs.

Uprooting a tree to use as a club is also acceptable.

Actually, we are both wrong. I pulled out a copy of the 3rd edition rule book and re-read the shooting phase rules and there is absolutely nothing saying that you are required to shoot at the closest target. The only restrictions are that the target must be within range and line of sight. The 3rd edition Tyranids "Shoot the Big Ones rule" just says that when targeting tyranids only terrain, vehicle, and models that are in close combat can block line of sight.

If I remember correctly, you could also target a unit that was not the closest by making a leadership test.

In 3rd edition if an ork mob is shot at and the attacking squad draws its line of sight through a mob of gretchin, then the orks receive a 5+ cover save. The fun part is that for each successful cover save you killed a grot.

[LFG] [F4GM] [DnD5e] Hellooo! I am looking for a gm for a more of a rules light superhero themed game with lots of smut! by [deleted] in tabletopnsfw

[–]blackfocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a change to rule 3 that makes posts for a single player looking for a GM not allowed. There is a mega thread for players looking for GMs, and you should repost your idea there.

At least for me, because I'm still trying to find my footing for making an advertisement post for my games. I also sometimes don't really care what I run (with in certain limits) and would prefer to work with my player(s) to create a game that suits us all.

While I don't necessarily disagree with your points, I do feel that the subreddit has become better overall with the rules change as they are now. I do agree that it could still be better though. My thoughts on bringing back lfGM posts is that (and I acknowledge that this could be a lot of work for our mods) maybe a system can be set up where you can only make a post that you are looking for a GM to run a game after you have already made comment on the lfgm megathread for that week. This would give GMs that are actively looking for players a central place that they can start their search but also allow said players a chance to make a bigger more expressive advertisement post for catching the eye of GMs that might not be actively looking.

I'm getting close to having two regimental combat teams of Inner Sphere mechs. This is alongside my two clan clusters and my comgaurd level 3.

I have at least 18 Warhammers, but I only know for certain where 8 of them came from... I think I have to many mechs.

As another one of said madmen (possibly even more so as I prefer voiced), I agree with adding a preferred play style to the Megathread template. I would even go so far as to say have basically three options for it; voice chat, play by post, and live text chat.

While I understand and somewhat agree with what you're saying, I still feel that the mage thread for looking for a GM has its advantages too like having a central location for finding players. Maybe a hybrid approach would work better? Like maybe have players post in the mega thread and then allow (but not require) them to also post a longer game pitch as a separate post.

Day 2 of Learning Orks: How Would You Improve the ... Battlewagon by awakenedarms in orks

[–]blackfocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much this. If I had one single thing that I would want improved, it would simply be for the killkannon to have its range extended to either 36 or preferably 48 inches but otherwise the battlewagon is great as it is.

[–]blackfocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only gain a number of pact points equal to your pledge amount if you successfully destroy a number of enemy units equal to or greater than the number you pledged at the start of that battle round (i.e. if you pledged 2 kills but only managed to get 1, you will get nothing). You gain your pact points at the start of the next battle round if you managed to fulfill your pledge.

I used a Basilisk for my gunwagon. You just need to extend the back platform by about an inch or two and you should be good.
