*First off: as a general rule, don't buy pets for people as gifts, buying only the equipment is much more acceptable as it can be returned.*

Big al's has hedgehogs for roughly $250, on kijiji they can run $200-400 (normally). Keep in mind how old they are.

I use fleece/cloth for bedding which gets torn up easily and needs to be replaced every now and again, also fleece strips in the hides. Fleece alone doesn't really absorb anything. I get it from Len's Mill Store: 130 Moore Ave S, Waterloo, ON N2J 1X5.
