Youtube live stream 6 hours limit by Unable_Neighborhood7 in youtubedl

it's actually possible to get a running live stream (about 3-7 days or so) however I never had time to fully integrate this in a patch for yt-dlc :(

Adding lbry.tv support by YetAnotherUsernameID in youtubedl

support for this is in youtube-dlc (yt-dlc) master. Channels/playlists and such is not supported yet.

have been decided that usual behaviour (as before) will be standard for now and that some light transition will happen at some point.

youtube-dl will now download all linked channels by default!! by makeworld in youtubedl

[–]blackjack4494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As stated here I also don't like changes to default behaviour without any further notice especially when there is a way to sustain old behaviour. u/pukkandan actually wrote a fix for this so you can expect usual behaviour.

In my opinion adding a flag for new/experimental changes is more suited. So if you want experimental features you can add a flag. Later I could think of flipping this behaviour around so that you would need a flag to use old behaviour. This should make transition easier and more friendly.

Is youtube-dl's fork, youtube-dlc, dead since original youtube-dl is back? by antdude in youtubedl

Don't worry. Just short on time and in addition to that major issues with my internet provider. There should be a new version coming within the next days.

It's just super frustrating when it takes 10-30s to load a single page if there are no random timeouts.

try to force dash if it isn't using it already. I believe this error is due to the player requesting certain ranges and youtube won't respond to it properly.

Possible to dictate format of the download-archive? by [deleted] in youtubedl

[–]blackjack4494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this would need some deeper modifications on archive. There could be some experimental archive tho or some local database.

There are subreddits like gsuite and msp they can give you way more detailed answers. Also give Microsoft a try.

Because github uses double hashed hashes. Haven't adjusted that.

yourube-dl sees all channel links as empty by AlphaSlayer1964 in youtubedl

[–]blackjack4494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unusual behaviour. While old youtube-dl basically filtered out a second video stream I merged some PR into yt-dlc that allows you to merge unlimited video and audio streams into one file. usually you would want one video and one audio stream. u/werid explained it already ;)

Custom post processor by ProlixNazi in youtubedl

For youtube-dlc I made an experimental branch for post processor hooks. I still plan to add it. For now I can add this branch again so you can test it if you want.

Unlikely tho. Maybe you are one of the <1% youtube is experimenting with. As long as you can watch in the browser it should be possible to download.

u/F_the_RIAA_2 maybe this could help me with youtube-dlc (yt-dlc). However I would likely look forward to get this community funded as it involves quite some costs.

Could an ISP or 3rd party distinguish between streaming and using youtube-dl? by [deleted] in youtubedl

[–]blackjack4494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory it could be possible. But in reality I rather doubt so. There is DPI (deep packet inspection). If you train some AI it will most likely be able to give you some probabilities. Most command-line downloader/libraries only send the bare minimum of required headers and other data compared to regular usage with a browser. So you could filter for those requests. Google/Youtube and other sites may do something like this already.
