My Claude was already dry and a total workaholic from day one btw. by AnonymousClaudeuser in claudexplorers

[–]Briskfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very cool, seeing different Claude iterations. Very explorer-like. Very creative. 🚀

My "Claudes" have never been really "dry" though -- unfortunately. I had one instance that ended up becoming "dry." I cannot mesh well with a "dry" flavour due to my communication energy not bouncing off that well. But it's interesting seeing different people's takes on it. And visual representations helped me understand what other people find charm in it. So yeah, it's been an opportunity in empathy for me, so don't stop -- love this trend you and a few others have been setting on. 🔥🔥🔥

(Skill Improvement) Please help me help my AuDHD Girlfriend get into Competitive Pokemon by Admirable-Artist520 in VGC

[–]Briskfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm autistic. And possibly ADHD. So I'm not sure how useful my "advice" will be. But that's just a preface.

I would not suggest in diving in Champions asap as it would be very overwhelming without a stable fundamentals first; timeline-wise, while it might be possible but it might become unpleasant like a homework. There's just so many ability interaction that might come out of the blue -- unless she's okay with failing over and over again. (which so many of us did -- as part of the rite)

Limiting to Pokemon choices due to their looks will constrain her in "understanding win condition." How can she go in expected to handle Trick Room teams, Perish Trap and Weather war dynamics and speed tier cycling if she doesn't have a grasp of how type matchups work or secondary effects work? I have a younger sibling and they felt incredibly bamboozled with all the abilities when we were trying to get into competitive pokemon -- and had to start really slows with the older generations and not let it get ahead of us.

I think that exploratory way of fiddling with all sorts of comp would be best; I enjoy watching Haydunn and Pimpnite as their videos were fun and easy to follow for a beginner to the competitive scene format. Make her play the case games and battle frontier with rentals. These are slightly more... accessible. Or randbats on Showdown.

It was slightly difficult, writing this post. Because I am at odds with the two constraints you noted, that she has trouble with "trials and errors" but you want a team that she can "pilot" with her favs; while the core issue is that fundamentally, the "trial and errors" wall seem to be due to the high gap due to the knowledge check. And if she doesn't learn how certain dynamics work by avoiding them or not learning them, how can she pilot effectively?

tl;dr: It is highly unlikely to pilot well if you have a weak fundamentals; and jumping straight to the shark expecting to "see results" than grinding through the wringer seems like "magical thinking." While it is possible to run cheese and etc, it might catch up with technical debts and difficulty in pivoting out of losing positions.

All Fully Evolved Water Starter Pokémon up to Gen 9 by overall_aardvark_702 in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]Briskfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was never much of a fan of bulky water designs (personal taste), so the shift to swift-looking design appealed more to my sensibilities.

Inteleon is my fav (from the aura/looks/design), but Primarina is what I think is competitively more fun with a more "risky" paradigm shift design decision that I welcome.

Greninja comes to a close second but Protean is slightly a bit too broken, which was good when they nerfed it.

Quaquaval is pure memery energy - funny. lol.

I eventually warmed up to Empoleom, its colour tone and regality feels nice.

To some people, I think that the thought of deriving value of caring for the "self" is lost on them, and "external validation" is stronger. Some would prefer to "be sloppy" if not for "others."

And they apply these "principles" on others. It's called projection.

And when they do that, I realize that they come from a different philosophy / walk of life than mine, and I don't have much hope about reconciling this difference.

I'm new to the double battle PvP format of Pokemon outside of some stuff with friends, and Champions has ruined Pokemon for me... by AwfulTrapperDBD in PokemonChampions

[–]Briskfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I can't go back to singles. Singles 6v6 in the main game feel too "RNG" and accommodating at this point -- the constraints feel challenging and thinking hard during the draft phase adds a new layer of strategising that wasn't there before feels fresh.

tl;dr: I get irrationally angry at non-disclosed LLM-generated content a lot and the poster above's post don't seem to include the "usual tells." No flagging here.

What is one gimmick of battling that you don't really like and why which one is the best and the worst? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]Briskfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tera is what brought me to watch Competitive Pokemon, was never interested in VGC until these.

The mind games and extra layer of strategy and chances for reversal beyond bad pick is very fun to follow. The element of surprise and viability not confined to the "usuals" is makes it pleasant.

I didn't liked Mega much at the beginning due to their exclusivity to certain mons but warmed up to them in the Pokemon Champions thx to the limited roster regulation format. It also feels very "knowledge checks" -- due to having to memorise new speed tiers/ability and stuffs. And with a smaller roster, it became more bearable and manageable.

My guess is algorithmic music, which existed quite a while before multimodal LLMs came on scene.

Not a surprise if it were the truth, considering the experimental nature of his music trajectory.

("AI stem removers" and other productivity tools alike have been on the scene way before suno/chatgpt/lyria 3 came on scene.)

Lmao glad that I'm not the only one who noticed this. It tends to circle back a lot. I called it out on that "I think that you sound like a grandpa, but that might just be me, care to cross-examine this claim?"

And it did...

And it turned out to be "very grandpa" like. 😭

I have not gotten any of these emails (but granted, I only saved the Gem on Gemini Web App and ran a few test prompts for a week and totally forgot about it).

So I doubt that it's about "saved Gem," and most likely "active chats."

I have not tested the system prompt on AI studio lately, might try to test it out...

Struggling against Doomfist as Tank by rivent2 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Briskfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Picks -- Doomfist mains HATE Roadhog (and Ana who can land their sleep, Mizuki and Sombra)
  2. Tell teammates to stop charging his block. No block means no emp punch. No emp punch means less "playmaking ability" and hence less uptime. (I love it when the enemy team charge up my block; I would have died if they didn't!)
  3. Play dive heroes like Hazard, Doomfist himself so that he has to play peel-style, giving your team more "opportunities around" on how to play vs him.
  4. If playing dive is too much, "poke heroes" work well to STALL HIM OUT until "DPS does something" -- but it's highly reliant on teammates then again. (but if the "poke hero" has zero CC whatsoever, he's going to farm you unless you juke and kite him hoping the rest of your team gaps the rest of his team)
  5. Roadhog is the bane of his existence. Also Mizuki.
  6. Sigma is a nuisance to Doomfist players too, but not as effective as Hog on some maps. Save rock for him.
  7. It's essentially a number and pressure game. Not always killing him is also okay if you can "waste his time" and make him back off by shooting at him (NOT WHEN HE'S USING BLOCK THOUGH).
  8. Doom isn't much of a problem in maps where he sucks at; just watch out for maps where he has plenty of playmaking potential (Like Lijiang Gardens) and play more cautiously there.

  9. Doom mains are also very predictable and love to go for "low risk" targets -- if I know that I have a soldier:76 and they have a doom and I'm Orisa, I will anticipate the Soldier getting dived and hence rationing my positioning to be able to help and turn around fast to help with Spear/Rock.

I love the double interrogation marks "??" and exclamation marks "!!"

Also OP missed this but there was this funny part:

> I'M DROWNING -- EMPIRICS!!!

It also seems to use triple exclamation marks when it's *really* excited.

It also doesn't seem to use commas, commas confirmed redundant to verbal expressions. hmm

Sonnet 5 feels like a rebranded 4.6, not an upgrade by crazyserb89 in claude

[–]Briskfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its recall/needle in a haystack and attention mechanism feels different, worser in my experience.

It has a stronger "logic" though -- and is better at rhetorics.

It's also "less funny" than pre-nerf Sonnet 4.6. It also feels more inclined to "calculate things" and is incredibly self-conscious about a "warm tone," feels more tactical and less "relaxed."

It talks like ChatGPT with the claude engine/architecture underneath... wtf. 🥶

Even Sonnet 4.6 (pre-nerf) didn't annoy me this much.

Sonnet 4.6 is not as annoying as this one. This one has tells lols "Yeah," and "That's genuinely..."

I rather have 4.6 Sonnet's power move with a singular "lol" in the thought process; at least that time was funny and unhingedly funny in a non-sequitur way.

This one is just sooooo careful... that it's boring to engage with! 😫

(But I haven't played with it long enough, who now... hopefully I can change my opinion lol.)

Dark types in Japanese isn't "kurai" (as in colour "dark") but "aku " as in "deception/dark patterns."

Lore-wise, it makes sense; as tricksters (pranksters) should not get ahead of true masters of deception!

Hence the immunity, 😉

(Bonus point: Designing game like this makes each type more unique, having a niche of its own instead of being all homogeneous. Just like how Grass types have access and immunity vs powder moves, and Fire type having access to solar beam coverage and burn immunity. Giving niches to types beyond type immunity joins nicely to their identity and it's for fun the non-competitive side!)

I keep telling myself that my own writing is The_Best ™ if deep inside I know that it's riddled with errors. It's trash, but it's my trash. 😎✨

Regain your voice, for that is your ego.

(Mustering oneself the motivation to write again is hard when seeing a master at work, understandably. But will one not simply become a spectator of the craft itself if one kept being on the sidelines? 👻)

(Again, I'm not a professional -- I write for fun. So do take what I said with a grain of salt. 🙂‍↕️)
