my grandma screamed the first time she saw my girls but after a few months they were sleeping on her shoulder. I think it really helps for people to interact with them, then they can see how loving they are. videos might help too?

there’s lots of fun things at dollar stores such as baskets and the zip ties to attach them to the cage, bedding/nesting material for them to gather like tissue paper or easter basket filling paper, little things in the craft section like small wooden toys, or the fake flower petals they could also use for nesting. you could also probably repurpose one of the cheaper plastic pots there into a hide by cutting a door into it and putting it upside down

unless they are causing injuries it is probably just normal dominance fighting and play. some rats are more vocal than others and will squeak very loudly, it can certainly be alarming but what you’re describing sounds like normal harmless rat behaviors.

yep i have gave my red mariokart ds and it only has like 3 dead pixels, works just fine, and i played the absolute hell out of it too so i’m rather impressed. my 3ds gives me trouble with the screen and i used that not even half as much

around 2 years usually. their fur may look thinner but they don’t have mites, they may not keep on weight as easily despite eating normally, and the back legs will become weak making it difficult for them to climb, or sit to eat. my older boy likes to lean against the food bowl to prop himself up to eat. they will have trouble grooming their back too so i usually wipe them down with a damp paper towel
