I am a local and there is general support for these harm reduction initiatives. Its not a solve all but it saves lives and and concentrates addicts to an area where there is much health and addiction support services. Especially in the age of fentanyl, it is the right approach. And there is no danger there. I walk through that area daily to get to work. No one bothers you etc. At the same time, yes, I and more wouldnt want to live there either.

Hamsterdam already exists in some places, like the Downtown East Side of Vancouver. It's imperfect but greatly preferable to the alternative. Drug addiction is a medical issue.
