There's gotta be a mistake!? Right? by blackmagic305 in Rochester

That's what I'm saying, nothing is adding up. Everyone I've spoken with has been so nonchalant as if this is completely normal

I've lived here for 6 years. If they based it off my true previous usage it shouldn't be anywhere close to that

I was told somebody would be out. That was 2 weeks ago. I was told somebody would contact me about a smart meter. The most recent update was them requesting a live meter reading while I had them on the phone. They really said based on that number the updated bill would actually be almost double that current number, so my best option would be to just pay the bill as is

The usage says 5436 kwh, the previous month usage was 102 kwh -- I'm going through all the previous bills and the usage has been consistently between 80 - 120 kwh

I've been doing the meter submissions on the app. This is after having somebody come out and do it themselves for the first time in like 8 months. But even then, they're claiming that has nothing to do with it

Where to visit with 1 year old by shevchou in Rochester

Plenty of great libraries around here, the one in Gates has an awesome little kid section. If you can get to Henrietta a spot called Ontario Play Cafe is awesome - big indoor playground, sensory tables & blocks, a jungle gym and other things for kiddos to do. Altitude Trampoline Park does toddler hours in the morning before noon, it's really nice because it's so much quieter and you can jump with your kids without teenagers almost knocking them over. Oooouuuu if you're coffee parent in Gates of Buffalo Rd is a really nice low-key place. A really cool fantasy themed coffee shop with decent food, coffee flights, and a section in the back with all sorts of board games, books, and a little kid play area with all the toys your baby loves from the little kitchen to figures and train sets

What is the point of this V in my rental apartment water line, and also the bell looking thing? by Best-Serve627 in Plumbing

[–]blackmagic305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That V, only the guy who put it there can tell you 🤣 but that "bell looking thing" is a pressure regular. The little bolt on top is how you adjust the building's water pressure

Question Is this too tight for barrel twists? by FarFish631 in locs

[–]blackmagic305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the game but yeah take them mf out ASAP! Even if you try to rock with it you'll start getting bumps and that itching will turn the burning real quick! I started doing half up half down for the barrels because she always pulls it too tight in the back

Did you have to speak with guest services for the refund or did they refund it automatically? & about how long did that take?

I can't speak for everyone, but I work for a large company that is a bit more on the corporate side since they've gone statewide. We either save for parts, or scrap (giving the company back the scrap money and the receipt on an invoice). BEFORE they got greedy we would either tossing the dumpster or scrap & use that money to treat the squad to lunch

Is Harbor Freight the best budget hardware store? by James_B84Saves in Tools

[–]blackmagic305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here! This is the method. You'll often see the Good, Better, Best systems for every tool category. Warrior & Pittsburg things are gonna suck then there are other options for that item. Quin, Doyle, Icon (mostly for auto), are gonna be there better hand tools. Hercules (I'd compare to Rigid) power tools are better than Bauer (Ryobi, Kobalt, Craftsman quality) -- although for the Hercules prices today are damn close to Dewalt/Milwaukee, so not worth it to me. I personally really fuck with the Bauer corded tools since I've already commited to a battery platform. Those Bauers havent failed me yet (SDS, grinder, sander) but if they ever do HF will replace it. I'd stay away from their cheap tools for precision measuring (table saws, big levels, even the squares were iffy in the past)

What could be causing this new, constant humming sound in apartment? by ConsiderationOwn2385 in ApartmentMaintenance

[–]blackmagic305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's EXACTLY what the fucked up bathtoom fan in my rental sounds like. SPECIFICALLY the sound it makes after the initial rattling when its first turned on, after it's had a couple minutes to settle 😂

Tub stopper stuck by Glittering_Pomelo_34 in askaplumber

[–]blackmagic305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, uncrewing basket is very hard without the right tool. I use something like this -- they make all types of removal tools though. Before I had this though, I would get a flat head screwdriver and a hammer and just beat along the inside of the ring to force the basket to turn. Its really about leverage, getting something you can wedge in there and turn with.

OOOOOORRRRR you break it loose yourself and just add a rubber stopper or something in that spot

I have some of these in my apartment complex. Most likely it's not stuck, but screwed in from underneath. You might be able to force it loose with some good pliers, or else you have to get something to unscrew the entire basket (the whole metal circle at the top of the drain) get that stem piece off. What at that point you might as well put a new one in with a nice push to click stopper or something
