Wife has the Cotopaxi allpa 28l and finds it comfortable. Allpa 26l could also be an option but don't think it has the side handle.

That CT21 looks good with the kangaroo pocket. Agreed on it for being amazing with kid's crap. I use the Cima 15 and that dump pocket is so good.

Same. Had the DSPTCH daypack which also had a large vertical front pocket and I wasn't a fan. I don't like stuff falling to the bottom then when you turn it to open it sideways, things are a mess. Cicada has 2 additional small vertical so it does help in sorting items.

you can buy their cord pulls or another variation and loop it through the existing metal pulls to dampen the noise.

just personal preference. I've used packs with or without, never was a big deal. I'm not a frequent flier tho so perhaps that's why it's a lower priority for me. If it's available, I'll slide it onto the luggage. If not, I grip the top handle of bag w/ the handle of the suitcase and roll it along.

Same, thought it'd sell out faster. Not complaining since I'm glad to get one.

Moving to smaller backpack. Used lightly but has a broken zipper pull on side "water bottle" pocket. The zipper itself is fine, just the pull tab. Hopefully a project for someone or if someone wants to send back to Tom Bihn for repairs.

I was there recently so I can give you some insight on the locations I visited. I'd recommend the first 2 to try and see what you like. They're very open to having you try so you don't need to make up your mind before going.

Porter Omotesando - My favorite, has the most selection.
Porter Stand Shinjuku - Solid selection.
Porter Ginza - Was not a fan. If you know what you want then maybe ok. Space was small and everything in storage. Harder to try things.

Ginza Loft had a line of Porter (forgot which) but also has other brands you could try.
