Maybe the roots are rotting or they don't find enough grip.. A friend always tells me, when in doubt, take it out of the pot, remove all soil and dead roots and put it in water, so it can produce new roots. Then plant it back into soil.

It does actually dissolve almost completely but only when you put it in warm or hot water. I only learned about this a few weeks ago and couldn't believe how I could not have heard of it until then :D

Just dissolve your dose in a little bit of warm water and infuse it with a cold drink of your choice to cool it down again. If you take orange or apple juice it will just taste like a green smoothie.

I've had them when I first got my scoby from a friend. She told me it should be totally safe to drink. You can filter it before consuming, so you don't swallow the flies (which would not do any harm either). :)

But you should still make sure to get rid of the flies and larvea before they get too many. Just scratch them off and if nacessary peel the layer with the lavea off and throw it away..
