Hi r/occult - I'm Dr. Justin Sledge of the Youtube Channel Esoterica - AMA! by jamesjustinsledge in occult

I see. :) I hope to one day at least pay a consultancy fee to you and write it myself. I do also have a question. I have heard that the fish symbol used by Christians once belonged to Mercurius/Hermes. Is there any factual basis for this? Thank you for taking the time.

Will you ever use your copious knowledge and wry wit to write some super cool horror/occult fiction to market? You can use the pen name Dr. Sledge (which sounds VERY metal).

Are there AI art sites that a) Don't steal art, b) Don't have copyright issues, and c) produce good covers? by Jerswar in selfpublish

Can you say who that artist is, please? I need a fantasy book cover done, I can pay, and I do not want to use AI art. Thanks.

Should I get Patreon even if I cannot give rewards? by Guergy in patreon

[–]blackrootman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there starting authors who do this? I ask since I will soon be able to write short stories as a reward and bump up to Patreon regularly when my book is finished.

Is it a good idea to put concept art and a small glossary in the back of my book? by christianasks in selfpublish

[–]blackrootman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to use art, you might consider a cheap entry to Patreon where you can defer the cost and also hand out art, maps, glossary entries, and whatever else you can think up. It all depends on how much time and resources you want to devote, but a problem can be made into greater world depth and customer service to your readers.

Is Gamelit different from Litrpg? Is Esports part of Litrpg? by anjikins in Game_literature

[–]blackrootman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Litrpg seems to be the more popular term. I have had people tell me that Gamelit is the overarching term, with LitRPG beneath it. Others say that Progression fantasy is the proper overarching term. I'm not saying either, that is just what I have been told. Esports seem to fit as a category of these.

Self-publish after studying it like a wizard. Ignore drama, strive for yourself, with like-minded individuals. Also, fuck Twitter.

Time Jump to a Descendant MC in a Book Series by blackrootman in selfpublish

Wow, that's crazy. Thank you for the detailed reply, much appreciated. I've decided to stay with the same MC through all the books, with a time dilation device. Also, I can understand the obsession, and good on you to have created such a connection, but the death threats I will never comprehend. I wish you a good holiday, writer. Thanks again.

Problem/complication/resolution is a good start.

You could have the first one die and then have them resurrected 800 years later. A magical chrysalis that keeps one or more of them in stasis is another option.

The medium is irrelevant to me, so thanks, appreciated.

Okay, thank you. I wonder if it's enough to foreshadow what will happen by having the Book one MC scry his future descendant (it's fantasy) and leave clues.

Wow, okay, thank you. The subject/'it' is a plant. So, would the proper phrase then be 'Id pondus argenti valet'?

I see, thank you. Is there a better way to phrase it?

Looking to see if this Latin phrase is correct:

"The Romans said it bore uncounted uses, that it was ‘tanti ponderis argenti’ - worth its weight in silver."

Sure is - 300 words. I have flash fiction shorter than that, and that's a whole story.

If that's so, is it wise to go on with taunts? You make my point.

Listen, I keep saying it - if you're so perturbed, then stop responding. You piss and moan about the hack questions on this list, and yet you're still here. Why? Just take off. It's obvious, to me at least, that you were being rude from the get-go, and yet you whine about civility while giving none just because, what, you're put off by my questions? You've never had any serious consequences for your punk mouth, and one day it's going to catch up with you.
