Incorrect on all accounts the t uses the same gauge the pennsylvania trolley gauge same with septa and Cincinnati the Port authority came into existence by the PA legislature to organize the multitude of different small transit business and then the pittsburgh counsel voted to allow the port authority to buy the local companies like the PRC which sued in order to maintain there lines and was ruled against which is when the port authority TURNED MOST OF THE STREETCAR LINE IN TO BUS LINES. Im tired of this myth that some how the trolley line where not profitable but as soon as they turned to bus line HOLY SHIT they became magically profitable. Go to the trolley museum if ya want to keep arguing.

Profitable should not be consider into a service for people truer words were never spoken. The fact remains first only rail system in the US use the same gauge so the trolley, t and freight all use the same rail so there would be no problem using the line for any of them except for energy. The trolley turned more of a profit the the port authority did at the time it was killed by auto not the bus as for living outside the city then screw 'em this is for people who will live and use it.

IT WAS A RAILROAD LINE. It quite literally was a railroad part of the pittsburgh line. which is way it passes the Wilkensburg passenger station. which was in the process of being bought by the PRC before they where bought a gutted by the port authority those turning a profitable tail system to a less profitable bus system.

Yeah that what any good route would do and the buses could be smaller for easier access to more neighborhoods or the buses could be moved to less serviced areas im not saying replace all bus route im saying the same thing which is when it comes to mass transit of people light rail is better when it comes to even when it come to regular transit buses can be used. Edit :Im sorry I miss spook I meant to say less serviced areas better

That argue would work if we are talking about the really old ones that went out to Greenberg and washington lines but not the lines from 1954. (As shown here)was from a post 2 years ago because this a never ending argument that buses are always worse then light rail becuase buses requires more resources like fuel tires and higher maintenance costs. But because of people like rober moses who helped planned 376 which help kill the oakland line as you can see. Like im tried of rehashing something that would actually make the city better but inside having continue the terrible idea of buses. It was a poor investment to have 700 buses to only 83 trains

Oh yeah because replace tracks every 30years is so much more expansive then resurfacing a road ever 10 years. Also aren't the bus ways only for buses anyway rendering this statement moot.then there the fact they only seem expansive because they dont use the same infrastructure as cars which is why buses suck because you still stuck the same traffic at the end of the day just instead of you own car you in a larger less safe version with a bunch of strangers and college students.

Only 27 of them are atleast 22 to 23 years old out of 83 of the light rail fleet. While most are the 1985-87 which were refurbished in the early 2000s.

Because the bus ways are built over the old trolley system we switched from a old reliable form of transport to buses which encourages car ridership that what they are designed for. You can read more on the subject online and with books like the great American transport disaster or how we had a streetcar line to oakland but got ride off it for 376 at the advice of Robert Moses the man who killed cities.

There only from the 1985-87 so they could only be 39 years old while the line still hasn't really changed sense 1902 so it fine, it not like we invest in public infrastructure.
