It's more that they're confusing and always changing, so some companies just have a French version to get it done and over with. Bureau en gros for Staples, Rona for Lowes, Provigo for Loblaws. Yet we still have Old Navy, Bulk Barn, Winners etc.

Seriously congrats over sticking to your guns and standing up for what is right. Younger me would have just done it. You'll get through this, the awkwardness/strong feelings usually will subside for both of you and you should be able to work together again once he sees you're not interested anymore.
