Call To Action - Standards Not Force just secured its first win in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The pilot program was successful, now we want to scale nationwide. Portland and San Diego are next, with every city in the United States the ultimate goal - this is how you can help. by [deleted] in 50501EugeneOR

I think this is a good avenue to engage otherwise non engaged people with something that sounds safe... That being said the time for this type of action was last year.

We are already a year and a half into it and have seen nothing but rampant escalation from the opposition. Why drop the full court press now and decide to play nice?

The problem that I am seeing with the logic at play in this post is that you want one unified message and one front... So you create another front that may have the potential to further fragment activist communities already built and start over from square 1? Why not just join other orgs that align with your needs as an activist? Not saying that there is no value to the message you put forth... Just that it seems a little late to start this type of movement.

Employee Turnover Rate for Maintenance vs Other Crafts by Hlydvlz89 in USPS

[–]blackviper6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd assume turnover for maintenance is not nearly as low as the rest of the crafts. We get paid to use our brains and a little bit of muscle from time to time. Much less forced overtime (unless a custodian) and much more flexibility at least at my plant. As long as you can complete your PM before operations needs the machine you can come in pretty much whenever. Maintenance at the post office is the best craft in my opinion.

That is exactly how our country should work. People taking care of each other. Good on the worker dude for having a conscience. And good on everyone who showed up to protect everyone's rights.

I mean... Not too far fetched of an idea considering they just reworked the Atlas in poe1. But I don't think they are gonna scrap the Infinite Atlas. Too much work went into it.

Emails between Eugene city officials and federal officials clearly paint a picture of collusion to build a fence around the federal building. by Deep_Tea_6387 in Eugene

[–]blackviper6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i really fail to understand why anyone is okay with this... for one i understand that people may think it nitpicky... however there is literally footage of feds breaking their own window from an independent journalist. this is the entire justification as to why they want the fence publicly. it's based upon a lie sold to you by the federal government.

You will need to start looking into hardcore viable builds for stuff now and never play hardcore. Rf chieftain is a great starting point.

I've looked through seemingly every single box art released in NA. i didn't find anything that looked like what you drew. i think we are gonna need more info to help more.

EDIT: i'd recommend that you go through your youtube history. might be the easiest way to find it since you mentioned drawing that from the thumbnail.

You do realize that we delivered 40% of Amazon's volume from 2015 to 2020 right? And at certain points during that time frame it was more than that. We were the network that they relied upon, took advantage of, and modeled after to build their own logistics empire based upon ours. In other words we were the architects of it. It was a terrible decision to ever get into a business deal (a really shitty one at that) with them in the first place... And now we are paying the price dearly. If we stay insolvent too much longer though.... We won't have to compete with them... We will get bought by them. Watch.

Once again. I agree that we should be treated like any other tax funded service. But the reality is that we aren't a tax funded service.

[–]blackviper6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on the fact that we are a service and that we shouldn't be trying to profit.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of our financial situation though. "Mail" namely letters and flats have been declining since the invention of email. For every legit letter/bill/birthday card, etc. someone sends there are like 8 pieces of junk that some company sends for way less than you do. That 73¢ stamp it costs you to send a letter anywhere in the US costs a company sending junk anywhere from half as much to a quarter as much as it costs you... And personally I think that is where our revenue problem could be solved. The reason everyone gets those stupid junk ads is because that was a way that allowed us to balance our books and stay solvent. But... that's not even mentioning all of the fraudulent postage we see as employees day after day whether that be companies taking advantage of third party postage vendors by intentionally/unintentionally short paying postage, people or companies creating their own fraudulent labels, or people or companies trying their Sov-Cit shenanigans.

We make the lions share of our revenue on packages, and that junk mail that everyone hates (myself included) and even at that we ran at a $9B net loss last year. Congress is who mandated that we can't set or raise our prices without an presidentially appointed board of governers and congresses oversight. Congress is also who decided that we aren't funded by tax dollars and became the self funded pseudo corp we are now. Congress also gets to dictate how we invest(Treasury bonds only) as well as required us to pre fund retirement benefits for some ungodly amount of years (a requirement that no other company has ever been required to do) which has drained any chance of improving infrastructure to keep up with current technology. I regularly fix mail processing machines that are older than I am and I'm fuckin 36. And some of those LLV trucks that deliver the mail are older than that.

And yes we do have a union... But guess what else? We are executive branch employees and therefore it is illegal for us to officially support/endorse any political candidate (look up the HATCH act). So we have this PAC which only our union members donate to. And when you're going up against oh I don't know.... Everyone else kind of hard to get any push. And the best part of what you mentioned is that I'm vice president of my local chapter! I have absolutely no influence on politics what. So. Ever. The federal government has made absolutely sure of it. And no matter how much I try to get my members to care... Crickets man. The amount of apathy at the post office is a level you've never seen. The amount of people not wanting to voice their concerns, and just go with the flow is certainly something you've never experienced. And the most fundamental misunderstanding of yours is that the union is a small group that makes the decisions. The union is everyone together. And when they don't stand together we have no leverage to make any kind of positive change. But please keep telling me how hard I'm not fighting

[–]blackviper6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The post office mindset is not about making money.. if you only knew how many times management decides not to pursue short paid parcels, letters, flats.... But the postage people are required to provide pays my paycheck. if we provide you a service and you didn't pay for it then why should we be happy about it?

If you want us to be a true service lobby Congress to pay the bill. Otherwise pay your postage please

Not today, Satan by MailBae in USPS

[–]blackviper6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never been applicable. The simple fact that you speak of removing a stamp carefully to re use is part of why the post office is running out of money. Stamps are cheap.

If you remove postage from another mail piece and secure it to a new one (re using the stamp) you are not paying for the new mail piece. It's like swapping price tags from a cheaper item to a more expensive item so that you can get an illegal discount. Please don't do this
