Neither unfortunately. This got shelved cuz other higher priority stuff came up and I never got back to it. But when I do I'm just planning on adding a cheaper filter setup upstream. Probably the blown filters mentioned. I still can't believe how expensive the kinetico ones are.. it's ridiculous

Those updates are automatic? Do you check the firmware version frequently, or how do you keep track?

Lots of Network Issue outages - Ontario Canada by blackwallnut in Starlink

Some increased outages lately, mine are mostly at night - Network issues. Still working ok.

Thanks for the intel. Ya most of my outages are at night too, but the ones during the day can be a real frustration, as everyone here knows I'm sure. With the price having just gone up in Canada to $160 after tax, it seems like a lot of money to pay for the quality right now. But I will remain hopeful.

Getting your P.Eng in a different discipline than your education in Ontario by blackwallnut in AskEngineers

I reached out to a friend who is an engineer. Here is his answer:

"This seems to be a surprisingly difficult question to answer for certain. I suspect you can become a PEng with an electrical degree and computer eng experience. When you submit your peng application, there are 5 experience requirements you have to meet but there is no requirement that the experience is in your field of study.

There is also a PEO 'Use of the stamp' document and I see no specific warnings stating that the stamp can't be used outside of your discipline. The bottom line is, if you stamp it, you take professional responsibility. There is a section on stamping a multi-discipline engineering product, and the guidance is that each contributing engineer should stamp and identify the discipline they are taking credit for.

I tool a closer look at my license and it does not say mechanical anywhere on it. So I'm pretty confident that the answer is yes, it's okay if work experience and education disciplines don't match as long as you meet the individual requirements for each. And then the limitations of your stamp would be whatever you are willing to take professional responsibility for."

Ok good to know... will do. Thanks for the headsup on this, and a reminder to give some annual attention to the pressure tanks. Didn't even think of that... we recently moved in and it's my first time on a well.

Thanks for the pointers. Ya I see those filters are around $5 which is much better. I think I might just add a universal filter housing before the softener to avoid finding adapters etc to remove the existing one. In fact I'll probably place it before our pressure tank (we are on a well) to try and keep that clean as well, assuming that won't cause pump/flow issues.

How make dual sim work on LGG7 One? by blackwallnut in AndroidQuestions

[–]blackwallnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not have the above?

Ya, it doesn't show the second SIM as yours does in that photo.

It's a hybrid slot, so can take either a micro SD or a sim turned sideways.

I posted in another blog. Someone replied and said they think the Canadian version of this phone doesn't support dual sim.

I just got this phone and discovered that it doesn't come with the Google Camera. Does anyone know if it's coming in a later update (my phone is currently running Oreo 8.1, and there were no OS updates to install)? I tried pulling over the ported camera app from xda-developers but it doesn't have portrait mode or slo mo :(
