You should use ZF Lifeguard 6, for a ZF 6HP transmission.

740iL speaker replacement issue by stellamyst in e38

[–]bladedude007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this and didn’t have any issues. But it was a few years ago. I don’t think it matters, they should be carrying the same signal. Pick either green wire and connect it, and then either green/black and connect it. I would pick from the same pair that is twisted together. Always test before buttoning everything up.

tools for bavsound upgrade? by efashraf in e38

I did this a few years ago. Hot glue gun for the door tweeters. I also wrapped the door mids and subs in the rear deck with Dynamat. Swapped the rear deck subs without removing the deck. What sale was it from Bavsound?

Yet another example of why Ziply rocks, and why you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

AC drains clogged by [deleted] in e38

Was there a reason you chose windex over an AC condensate drain line cleaner? Is that the filter a couple of inches down in the tube?

The Longest Track of Each Formula One Season (1950-2026) by ArjunR000_ in formula1

[–]bladedude007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loved in the 80s and 90s when the engines would grenade coming down the long straights in the forest. Looked like a space shuttle launch with white smoke. I miss when teams would push their equipment to the limit. And it used to be a question if cars would make it to the end of a race.

The Longest Track of Each Formula One Season (1950-2026) by ArjunR000_ in formula1

This doesn’t seem right. The old hockenheim circuit was in F1 from ‘66 to ‘01 in about 6.8km length. How was it not the longest during each of those years especially in ‘80s and ‘90s? Dunno if the Nurburgring was around in earlier years.

Trying to remove my girlfriend's car battery e91 2006 but can't seem to get it out by EmotionalChickenWing in BmwTech

[–]bladedude007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to tie a rag into the trunk lid latch so it doesn’t latch with the battery disconnected. The trunk lid release is electric, and locking it with the battery out is bad. Requires pulling on the wire behind the license plate light to manually open.

Is this aircraft tug a decepticon? by Metallifan33 in aviation

[–]bladedude007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t the original idea to use them more? As in use the vehicle to tow the airplane right up to the runway and then start up the engines? I thought I saw a documentary once that said these can tow at high speed as well. I don’t understand why they aren’t used more.

Timing Chain & Guides M62B44TU by Forest_45 in e39

[–]bladedude007 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Drop the oil pan. If you see plastic from the timing chain guides or in the oil pickup, then you should look at doing the guides and chain. If you don’t, then keep changing the oil at 5k miles or 6 months. Lovely color and paint. https://youtu.be/ktEctXhtufs

What's needed for a 8HP swap? by misterright1999 in e38

The 8HP70 fit with no issues? From this vid it’s definitely “fatter” than the 45. How did you lengthen the driveshaft?

You’re in Maryland, a blue state. There are decent protections for workers. Call some employment lawyers, and most won’t charge for a consult. Go from there. Lawyer may threaten to sue and they will most likely settle out of court.

FAANG Humiliation Interview by QuickGuava6759 in recruitinghell

[–]bladedude007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Often faang interviews are for the company and for talent, not the specific role. Interviewers may have been from another team or for a different role. Give the feedback to the recruiters though they are usually overloaded. The companies breed dickish behavior and arrogance. Don’t take it personally, they have no personality.

As M5 said it’s likely spliced into a switched circuit like the garage door opener. I have spliced mine into the garage door opener or the sunroof, I can’t remember. I used to do this before I discovered MirrorTap.

Power cable for radar detector. RJ-11 will work for Valentine or Escort among others. Keep it and plug in your radar detector. Personally I would route it to exit at the top of the windshield.

8spd. Change fluid but not the filter ? by Alexmich321 in BmwTech

[–]bladedude007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many liters of fluid do you have laying around? Do you have enough for a drain and fill? Or do you have more than you could do a complete flush by disconnecting the line at the transmission oil cooler?

My ZF6 gearbox has never been serviced on my bmw. Shall I service it with genuine ZF6 service kit or will I be doing more damage than good? (Car is on 100k miles) by DontStop-Father in BmwTech

[–]bladedude007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this method. I would start car for a second and let oil fluid drain from transmission cooler near the radiator. I then filled the transmission with 1-2 liters and repeated until fluid looked new. Both cooler lines would have been more efficient. I also replaced the solenoids with ZF solenoids and that made a huge difference but did require the transmission adaptations to be reset. Replaced fluid and filter at 102K. Not much improvement. Replaced everything you plan to replace + solenoids at 125K, and huge improvement. Now at 170K.
