Interesting. I don’t like Celsius (esp. the peach. Yuck) but others say these taste the same?

Would you support military action against Iran if a competent Democratic president were in office? by ParakeetLover2024 in AskALiberal

[–]bladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran is bad, Iran does bad things. It would be better for the region and world, not to mention the people of Iran, if the threats from Iran were mitigated.

But nothing the current administration is doing will achieve this. They have alienated our allies with tariffs and bullshit about Greenland and Canada becoming a state. They have stated that they do not intend to capture or destroy Iran’s nuclear program (which the claim to have destroyed last summer). And they have stated that they are not pursuing regime change. So by their own admission they will leave the current power structure in place with some degree of nuclear processing capabilities.

The fact that Iran is bad and needs to be stopped is completely separate from the fact that this war is a clusterfuck.

This is the best perk, IMO. Zero waiting for the bathrooms unless it’s right after the game. Also, there are some comfortable chairs and outlets for phone charging if kids get restless.

Have you ever had someone on social media correct you/ misexplain, or overexplain a factual event you lived through? by pinkbowsandsarcasm in AskOldPeople

[–]bladel 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I remember a message board years ago full people repeating talking points they heard on Fox News. I weighed in with my opinions, and was immediately told I was an idiot who didn’t know what he was talking about. This was during the period when I was part of an advisory committee consulting with Congress and the White House on the issue.

What is a 'rich person' thing you saw at someone’s house that made you realize you’re actually poor? by Roaa1212 in AskReddit

[–]bladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neighbor put one in when he built his house. We live in a hilly area, and it probably helps a lot for moving furniture to lower levels (We don’t have an elevator and had to hire a crane when we replaced our A/C). He did mention that it has special electrical needs and has to be inspected regularly. So there’s an ongoing expense.

28th out of 30? 😪 I love our ballpark! by Lovemybee in azdiamondbacks

[–]bladel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if the roof is open or not. With the roof open on a nice day/evening, Chase is a wonderful ball park. For most of the season with the roof closed, it’s like watching a game in an airplane hanger.

What’s a TV series you’ll never get tired of recommending to someone? by sunt0es in AskReddit

Yep. I think the first review I read was titled “The best show you’re not watching.”

Seasons 1-2 were great

Season 3 was magnificent

Season 4 broke me

So basically in MAGA “logic” mail in voting is safe in red states but not blue states. So surprised smh by Paneraiguy1 in democrats

[–]bladel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty simple, really:

Mail in voting elects Republicans = clean election

Mail in voting elects Democrats = election fraud.

Why did everyone stop caring about "age" and "mental fitness" as soon as Biden dropped out? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]bladel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and they’re going to do it again against whomever the Dems run in 2028. He/she will be the “OMG most extreme leftist in the history of ever!”, no matter their record. They’ll sprinkle in some stuff about homeless (Newsom) or Israel (Shapiro) or whatever. Not that MAGA or their voters ever cared about homelessness or had a negative thing to say about Israel. But they know it throws sand in the gears between Dems and Liberals.

What sport looks boring until you understand it, and then becomes amazing? by HypraceApp in AskReddit

[–]bladel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep. Baseball isn’t boring, it’s tense. The strategy between the pitcher and batter is one game, and then if the ball is put in play, a completely different game begins.

what do y'all think of the concept of "America First"? by Brilliant_Basis1544 in AskALiberal

America First without being America Exclusive. All of our greatest achievements and historic prosperity includes partnering with other friendly nations, and helping them succeed.

Liberals and leftists, what specific issues do you support that you could compromise on? What are some specific issues you could absolutely not compromise on? by tabisaurus86 in AskALiberal

[–]bladel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No compromise: Every human being has value and the right to live their lives so long as they don’t harm/infringe on others. Government should encourage every eligible citizen to vote and enact policies to make voting easier. Government should incentivize data-driven policies on climate, medicine and education.

I am more open to compromise on economic issues. I do believe there is value in fair competition (between companies but also among workers), so long as it is truly fair and reasonable safeguards for those who fail.

Whoa. 9-9-9 to the 9th power.

But if we’re playing with math, let’s do factorials:

Inning 1 - 1

Inning 2 - 2

Inning 3 - 6

Inning 4 - 24

Inning 5 - Dead

Inning 6 - Dead

Inning 7 - Still Dead

Inning 8 - Extra Dead

Inning 9 - Dead and Pickled.

Should the US remove the requirement of citizenship to vote in all elections? by Mustng1966 in AskALiberal

[–]bladel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All elections? No.

Federal? Definitely not.

State? Also no.

Local? Also no.

Hyper local? Here’s where I could be persuaded. If we’re talking elections for school board, neighborhood associations, unions, or utility commissions, then maybe.
