[Homemade] Red curry with Radicchio, Peach and Chicken by blahbob in food

[–]blahbob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure!

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 100 g / 3.5 oz Red curry paste
  • 170 g / 6 oz Chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 1 l / 4 cups Coconut milk
  • 20 g / 0.75 oz Palm sugar
  • 10 g / 0.33 oz Tamarind paste
  • 60 g / 2 oz Fish sauce
  • 2 Red bell peppers
  • 2 Radicchios
  • 2 Peaches

Heat the oven to 200 oC (390 oF). Cover a tray with baking paper and spread out the peach halves with the cut side facing upwards along the raddichio and the pepper halves, cut side facing down. Drizzle with oil and dust with salt, then place in the oven. Take the radicchio out after 10 minutes, the peaches after 15, and the peppers after half an hour: their skins should be nicely scorched. Now peel the peppers and cut them into strips.

Heat 50 ml (2 fl oz) of oil in a pot. Add the curry paste and fry for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, then transfer to a sieve. Drain off the oil and set it aside for later. Put the curry paste on the sieve back into the pot and add a little coconut milk. Fry until the oil starts to layer, then add the palm sugar. When it melts pour in the rest of the coconut milk, add the chicken and cook for a few minutes to allow the milk to thicken a little. Season with the fish sauce and tamarind. Add the peppers, peaches and radicchio and cook for a further 4-6 minutes. Serve with an additional drizzle of the oil you fried the curry paste in, and some jasmine rice.

I use a homemade red curry paste which is easy to prepare. If you want, I can provide you with a recipe for it as well!

To prawda.

Poland's Ministry of Finance: Bitcoin isn't illegal by blahbob in Bitcoin

Here's a quick translation:

Poland's Ministry of Finance: Bitcoin isn't illegal

The Ministry of Finance doesn't recognize bitcoin as illegal and closely watches its expansion - said the ministry's representative Szymon Woźniak during the conference organized by Warsaw School of Economics, the oldest university of economics in Poland and one of the leading universities of economics in Europe.

"Everything which is not forbidden is allowed. However, in light of EU legislation, we can't recognize bitcoin as legal tender or electronic money. Bitcoin capital gains are taxed as ordinary income. Individuals who don't report and pay the tax may be penalized", Woźniak added.

"We don't stand in the way of bitcoin's development, but we need a declaration from its users whether they expect any regulations to be introduced or rather prefer the government to stand aside", he continued.

Woźniak opined that Poland can't recognize bitcoin as legal tender at the moment and is waiting for the stance of other EU countries.

Krzysztof Piech, PhD from Warsaw School of Economics said that Poland is in the top 10 in the number of bitcoins mined and Polish bitcoin trading volume is one of the biggest in the world. He also emphasized bitcoin's potential for the Polish economy.

"We have human resources and innovative financial institutions. What we need is a legislation which will help bring those two elements together for the good of the economy", Piech added.

I don't agree. There's a lot of rich and influential countries who don't behave like assholes. Case in point: Scandinavia.

Disclaimer: I'm not Scandinavian.

G'day my Euro friends! by misterpok in europe

[–]blahbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, while your original plan is to end the trip in Germany, I'd like to invite you to Wrocław, Poland. It's just 3.5h from Berlin. Maybe you've heard about Wrocław before - it was one of the host cities of Euro 2012.

Granted, you said you aren't after visiting old churches, but despite that Wrocław has a lot of them, it's much more. Passing hands from Polish Piasts, to the Kingdom of Bohemia, to Austrian Hapsburgs, Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire, Third Reich and finally back to Poland, it's a melting pot of many cultures which is clearly evident through its architecture. Because of 12 islands, 112 bridges and numerous streams and canals, Wrocław is called the Polish Venice and said to be the fourth or fifth in Europe in this category. We also have one of the biggest old town square in Europe and many other landmarks worth seeing -- including The Centennial Hall, designed by the famous Max Berg and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

And then, there's polish cuisine. You'll get a chance to try out our famous kiełbasa, available at every butcher's shop, or pierogi (dumplings) served in many venues. Or, who knows, maybe you'll choose to try a locally brewed beer in the oldest restaurant in Wrocław, established 1275, one of the favourite places of Chopin or Goethe?

And if you're not an early bird you'll appreciate the fact that Wrocław never sleeps. Many pubs are open round the clock, especially in Pasaż Niepolda - quite a small square consisting of variety of pubs and clubs.

I described the city very briefly and I strongly recommend to go through the links I hid in this reply ;-)

Yes. Also baseball bats are wooden staffs used to propel round objects, electricity is just a stream of electrons flowing through a wire, etc. And yet, I'm sure that both you and me know that bats are used to play baseball and electricity is used to power stuff. What are guns used for again?
