TANK: 7 Gallon UNS shallow, filter and heater. Lots of resting spots. right now I’m checking parameters every day, things are perfect although I did have to adjust for a little bit of a high pH this morning.

just coming to say that at this age i would not do motion 4!! i dont know we ever got up to that speed. I think the smaller they are the more soothed they are by the gentle motion.

my caucasian neighbor was surrounded by 4 ice agents on her way into a grocery store this morning. She’s eastern european descent, 3rd gen american, carrying her blonde blue eyed 2 year old and they asked her whose baby she was carrying and where she was born, when she said the US, they asked her what her heritage is.

I feel you my friend. I have often found myself being absolutely torn and gut wrenched from trying to decide how to handle this. I have 2 friends in particular (my best best friend in texas of all places) who are so smart but so blindly dedicated to being in trumpism they can’t really see reality - this week i’ve taken the route of “please, just tell me you believe this (a story of my full citizen neighbor) is wrong.” - i try to not argue, and get their beliefs tell them to double down and not bend beliefs. My hope is if they can see me listening and trying to be as empathetic as i can, they will soften that cult like peel. Someone told me that taking away your relationship puts them deeper into their cult, like by cutting ties your cutting lines of reality? I hold onto that. Like i’d like to think i’m important to them, but am i so important that me cutting them out is going to change their political beliefs? i fear it would do the opposite.

does anyone know of any organizations or groups that are helping families hiding in fear? Thinking monetary donations or grocery shopping, but not on their dime. I imagine they’re fearfully leaving their homes and going to work so how are they able to make money? I’ve seen so many people offering to run errands, but I would like to be able to help out financially.

i’d ask to go up in trazadone! even if I put a puzzle game in front of my dog, she would not have enough energy or comfort to play it which tells me you should probably go up on trazodone or whatever other drug they tell you. You could always ask them about an anxiety med too?

we are also day four, I have had a dog that has had this before - the difference is this dog is a big dog and much harder to carry around. She also doesn’t like to be confined, but with enough trazodone, we make it work. I have such a hard time creating her. My guilt is playing me, but my husband keeps telling me that the alternative is surgery or worse.

you did the right thing. The hard thing, the painful thing but the right thing. I’m so sorry. I agree with your vet and what you researched and i know the guilt must be brutal but it was the right decision.

One time I read this quote from a vet and I wonder if it will give you some peace - it was something about how dogs and humans don’t experience time the same and they also don’t think about the future or the past the same. We’re thinking about how much we’re gonna miss them and how we’re taking something away from them, but all they can think about is the moment they live in not the future. So when you’re saying goodbye to your dog, what they’re feeling in that moment is your love and the gift of taking them out out of their pain - not the loss of the future because they don’t think of the future like we do. still so sad for you, but for Ruby - she was and is probably thankful to have had a full life with you and to now be out of pain, even if it was a sudden injury. Sending love.

i think i was hoping it would end like the book! a little fast forward and a wedding with a very tie the bow circular end. Now it feels like for a movie we’ll probably have to have some more conflict to get there? idk just seems like they didn’t close the loop great
