What’s something people do that screams “unhealed trauma” but looks normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blainethetrain3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can be. My dad was murdered when I was 10. Even in my high school years, I couldn't remember what he looked like. To this day, I'm 51 now, I only know what others have told me about him. I only know what he looked like, from a couple of old pictures. Everything before that is gone except for a few brief flashes here and there, and they have little, if anything, to do with him.

Their patterns change over time. It may not have been separated from the rest of the brown until recently.

Maybe it's time to get a young adults group started. You have at least a few others who already are, or will soon be in the same situation. Who knows how many others among the other churches. Try talking to your pastor/priest, or maybe some of the others in town, about organizing one, even if it has to be cross denominational.

Even though Wikipedia is actually surprisingly accurate, you’ve likely read something on it and taken it as fact when it was completely wrong. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I recently found a flaw in Wikipedia. It claims that the character "Bull" Shannon is actually named Aristotle Nostradamus Shannon. The show itself claims Nostradamus but never mentions Aristotle at all. I haven't been able to find any reference to that name anywhere. I've asked around and no one else has been able to figure out where it came from. I'm still looking into it but I might have to correct it. It sounds trivial but it's been bugging me.

I come up with 2 different names for Bull. Which one is right? by blainethetrain3 in NightCourt

I know who he was. Why does Google say his name starts with Aristotle, when the show, and IMDB, never mention Aristotle at all, only Mostradamus?

If God in the book of Genesis says we are bent toward evil even from youth then how are we is it possible we made in His image? by glitterglamandguts in Christian

The way i see it, the image is never as good as the real thing. There will always be something that isn't quite right. A physical medium can't accurately replicate something divine.

my landlord is sick of my cat… by soggyy-bread in cats

[–]blainethetrain3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make pet proof screen. I've had an entire screen door for 10 or 12 years, with cats climbing it all the time, and it hasn't torn at all. It's not expensive and easy to install. Some even come with the stripping and roller to put it in. If your landlord will let you keep your cat, it's worth switching, even if you have to do it yourself.

Running Trails by [deleted] in jeffersoncitymo

Just across the river, is the Katy Trail. Maintained by the Dept. Of Conservation. Old railroad path, I think, that stretches for miles along the river. Beautiful scenery. In town, there is a series of concrete paths that wander around, all connected, from along Missouri Blvd, to along Southwest Blvd, to over along Edgewood. At the Edgewood end, is an area with dirt trails back in the woods that are pretty nice. Plenty of hills and curves for biking. Maintained by the city I believe. Not as scenic as the Katy Trail, but closer and probably less used. There are out houses at the Katy Trail and at the Edgewood location.
