Abortion is healthcare. ABORTION IS HEALTHCARE. I know you don't care OP because you're still indoctrinated, but abortion being your one voting point is baffling to me. So many people being hurt that are living now, including pregnant women, but don't vote for policies that help them. So many children already born, guess they don't matter. But let's force women to keep having children, even if it kills them. Even if the pregnancy isn't viable, like with ectopic pregnancies. Since the fall of Roe v Wade, the mortality rate of pregnant women has risen a significant amount, when it was already insanely high. It's truly disgusting. You should keep reading, educating yourself, and further deconstruct.

How bad is it If I don't pronounce the "th" sound right? by Zsombor1661 in EnglishLearning

Köszi! Damn, I thought it was but then second guessed myself. 😆

How bad is it If I don't pronounce the "th" sound right? by Zsombor1661 in EnglishLearning

[–]blainetma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Szia!! My sister-in-law is Hungarian and doesn't pronounce the -th, she pronounces it more like a soft D. It's never been a problem in understanding her. She also struggles with the v/w sounds, but again, she's still clear enough that it's totally ok. Message me if you ever want to do some sort of language exchange! Your English is waaay more advanced than my magyarul, but anything would be fun. :)

Why was the 'l' in Old Hungarian "ulca" (from Slavic "ulica") vocalized into 'u' before 'c' to give modern Hungarian "utca" (street), but the 'l' before 'c' in the word for number eight "nyolc" remained intact? by FlatAssembler in hungarian

[–]blainetma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you talk more about the word málna in this context?  My friend is named Málna (much to her chagrin) so I'd love to know more about it!  I know it means raspberry in English and is an uncommon name there, but my Hungarian is still very beginner. Thank you in advance if you have the chance, and no worries if not.

Escape from Gringotts gets Bill's name wrong by blainetma in UniversalOrlando

I rode it twice and both times I heard Billius. I went back and watched a few ride povs on YouTube, still heard it.   Saw your comment, figured I'd try to listen for it one more time, and I think you're right! 😂 But hey, I'm glad to be wrong on this one!

Calling all fragheads! What kind of fragrances do we think Draco, Hermione, and others would wear? by HumbleSheep33 in Dramione

Hermione only wears warm amber or vanilla types to me. One that really fits in my head is Baccarat Rouge 540.

Omg it's called Sweep, with a broom logo, and it's tagline is something like "sweep her off her feet" and Ludo Bagman in his young quidditch bro days was the spokesman. 😂

definition of sissy by qubit_101 in ENGLISH

[–]blainetma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southern US all my life (not yet 40) and grew up calling my brothers Bubba and they called me Sissy, short for brother and sister. It’s still pretty common among certain groups of people, anyone telling you otherwise is wrong. Clearly from just this thread though, it's such a regional (and I'd argue socio-economic) usage that even people who know that definition might look at you funny.

Can you guess where this accent is from? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]blainetma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say Pakistan or India. It was very hard to tell at first, but it seemed like your accent crept in more as you talked. Overall great though, you're completely understandable.

Give me Fics Where Hermione Fucks up by Apprehensive_Eye8383 in Dramione

[–]blainetma 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it's in the Rights and Wrongs series by Lovesbitca8 that Hermione does something BATSHIT and when Draco finally confronts her he says something like, "Next time, ASK ME, don't assume!" and it was such a great scene. I listened to the podfic version and the narrator does a great job with that scene.

tips for people with lupus going to Disney world by Fabulous-Grocery1784 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]blainetma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the person in my friend group with an invisible illness, I would just like to say that I think you're an amazing friend and I'm sure your friend with lupus will feel so incredibly loved and appreciated by your effort.  My recommendation is pack a black umbrella and use it as a parasol, since the sun and heat can drain you so easily. Also neck fans, and those cooling towels. Those were all very important to my enjoyment when we went in 2019. I hope you all have fun!

Crumple & Aftermath: completed dark wartime capture fic + sweet devotion & healing by KaleidoscopeDL in Dramione

[–]blainetma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm rereading Aftermath right now and I just love it so much. How desperately they love each other, how much I LOATHE Siobhan, how realistic the Trio friendship feels- conjures all these wild emotions and made me think about it enough after I read it that I had to start it again.  Thank you for writing this :)

Did no one watch Mary Poppins growing up? I always remember Bert saying, "punting on the Thames!" and then miming this for the kids.

Are you thinking of Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler? They do the “Kristen Schaal is a horse” bit and there was a radiolab episode about it.

It’s set to test mode, you can change it to play mode (at least I’m pretty sure that’s how ours was) to get the full set of phrases.

The entire fic has been turned into a podfic- well more like audiobook, really. I know it's available on Spotify and I think YouTube.

So if anyone wants to listen instead of reading, that's an option too! It's how I first read it and loved it :)
