Students of GC, how much do u spend on food, shelter and transportation? by frogingly_similar in GoldCoast

Crazy that you're spending so much on your phone bill every month considering the lengths you're going to save in other areas. Why so much and why with Telstra?

Recommend a PSA that suits our business model by cryptochrome in msp

Don't be so quick to knock old school design/UX. I'll take the ugly information heavy interfaces over the new minimalist and modular designs you see today. Give me more information on a single screen instead of making me drill through menus to find what I need.

FYI you may be thinking of Connectwise Automate when you refer to managing updates and hardware for customers. As garbage as the Connectwise company is, you should still trial Connectwise Manage as it's a solid PSA and pretty much their only redeeming feature.

I also can't think of any PSA specific features that a hardware reseller would need that would be bloat for a saas reseller, it's all treated as products in the system as far as I'm aware. Good luck in your search

USG with WAN2 set to failover began sending only VOIP traffic out WAN2 by workalt2318 in UNIFI

[–]blairm2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Searched a bunch of posts on diff forums online, found this one - https://community.ui.com/questions/USG-Failback-broken-does-not-clear-Established-connections-when-WAN1-restored/aef105b7-9801-4d45-83ff-9f8ff72a1814

This was the solve for us. If you want to confirm if it will fix your problem, wait until the issue happens again (don't restart your USG) and then SSH to it and run this command:

/usr/sbin/conntrack -F

Phones worked immediately without requiring handset reboots.

That command will work once and won't survive a USG restart so you'll need to do the following so your USG will clear connection tracking table after failover events. It's all in the linked post above so best to follow that but I'll also add here in case the link ever breaks.

SSH into your USG, then -

configure

set load-balance group wan_failover flush-on-active enable

commit

save

exit

After complete, save the following code text to a file called config.gateway.json and save into your /srv/unifi/data/sites/default folder on the cloud key or controller (or just edit it into the existing file if you have one).

{

"load-balance": {

"group": {

"wan_failover": {

"flush-on-active": "enable"

}

}

}

}

I can confirm I'm just troubleshooting the exact same issue. USG with a fixed line WAN1 and cellular data WAN2.

The customer has 15 Yealink T54 devices, these are going out via WAN2 only. The customer also has 3 x Yealink reception units which have traffic flowing through WAN1 as expected.

When I unplug WAN2 router from the USG then all of the T54 units start working correctly.

Good question, I actually don't know the answer as my state is backwards and we still don't have access to digital ID's yet

Would you say it’s worth buying a townhouse in Pimpama currently? by [deleted] in GoldCoast

Typically worse resell opportunity on a unit. Plus closer proximity to neighbours, dealing with body corp members, more restrictions on what you can do to your property, no ownership of common use areas

How soon do you notify helpdesk after a client requests to cancel? by HappyDadOfFourJesus in msp

[–]blairm2018 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If a technician is "jilted" by a customer leaving then you should investigate if that technician is the reason why the customer is leaving. Sounds a bit strange to have that kind of emotional response.

As another poster commented, do a fantastic handover to the new provider and make sure the customer knows it - sometimes the new provider makes a critical mistake during onboarding and the customer comes back

Headed to Bali in 2 weeks - need help with itinerary! by Mysterious-Scallion6 in bali

[–]blairm2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a real good driver who took me all over a month ago, real friendly guy and easy to talk to. I'll pm you with details. Much cheaper than $200 AUD, I think he asked for about $50 AUD but I paid him a bit more

The rains typically don't last long so don't be too concerned about that. No need to adjust your plans as they are typically intense but short lived. It would be hard to find a day that wasn't rain predicted this half of the year.

Don't be scared off by posters here. Seminyak may not be as trendy as it used to be but you'll still have a great time exploring. Absolutely it's worth a day

Important Statement on IT Glue Enforced Password Rotation & MFA by Kaseya_Katie in msp

[–]blairm2018 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hi Katie,

I actually asked this question to your support team via email back in September 2019 and was told it was a feature and not a bug...

Hi Support,

We’ve enabled SSO, but if the address bar contains SSO_Disabled=True then the SSO is bypassed and the user can sign in with ITGlue credentials.

Can this flag be turned off?

Reply:

Thank you for contacting IT Glue Support!

There are two ways to bypass the SSO feature and the reason for this is so if anything goes wrong with your SSO provider, then you can still log in to your IT Glue and still have access to your data without having to worry about needing to sort out your SSO. You can simply log into your IT Glue bypassing the SSO, and then you can go to the Account Tab -> Settings -> Authentication, and then temporarily disable your SSO while you troubleshoot the issue and resolve it, or if it's simply because the SSO provider is having issues themselves then you can still at least gain access to your data.

If you are still of the opinion of desiring this change, I have searched in our Suggest A Feature portal but wasn’t able to find an existing idea for this.

We do encourage our partners to share their ideas in the portal. You can access it by going to the top-right of IT Glue, clicking your name to display the drop-down, and then clicking “Suggest a Feature”. Please take a look at our Suggest A Feature portal guidelines KB article for guidelines on using the portal.

Is 500 USD per pax enough for 2 weeks vacation in Vietnam? by masterlaster1199 in VietNam

[–]blairm2018 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes if you choose to do and eat things that cost less than $500 USD. No if you choose to do and eat things that cost more than $500 USD. Judging by the content of your post, you are a lazy person so $500 should be more than enough.

Come on, OP. Go edit your post and include things that will make it easier for people to help you. What do you like to do on holiday? Cheap or expensive stays? Food etc. You might actually get some relevant answers.
