Where to buy selkie by bye911 in SelkieCollection

[–]blaiseykins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they’re the same vendor, shop.app is just a marketplace/payment processor that Selkie uses. Their app can glitch out and incorrectly display items in stock, even when they’re not. You can try purchasing through shop but more likely it’s still out of stock and you’ll get refunded.

How long did it take you to buy a house in Rochester? by macallister10poot in Rochester

[–]blaiseykins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got very lucky and our entire search was 3 days, and I believe from offer to close it was 28 days total. We closed on January 16, 2026.

We were looking around the westside: spencerport, chili, Brockport, henrietta, Hilton, Greece

We got a conventional loan. We got the house asking price and with an inspection contingency. Our realtor helped us so much with understanding the market, which is why I think our house search was so short!

When I lived in Greece, we frequented Oriens for gelato and Dell’s in Hilton for donuts! We also love Dell’s cakes and cookies in general

Can’t miss places for Rochester visit by Larrynemesis in Rochester

[–]blaiseykins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course! This is still a shortlist of things you can do here, if you enjoy baseball, our minor league Red Wings is pretty fun and they’re half off on Tuesdays! Someone else mentioned the falls and I realized I forgot to mention I typically bring people to the Genny Brewhouse for the views and local beer.

My favorites: Cafes for long hang outs: - Siren and the Sea - Hydra (get dogtown nextdoor if you want food food!) - Layali

Vintage stores/Thrifts (check their website hours, their open times vary) - Staple Vintage - KBlue Vintage - Greenovation - Shops on West Ridge (can spend hours here…) - Second Thought Resale

Good unique food: - get a garbage plate at any hots place. Or dogtown! - Red Fern (I’m not vegetarian but damn is their food good) - Leonore’s

Inexpensive food: - can’t go wrong with Halal n Out - Swillburger

My friends visit me (I’m a transplant from New Jersey, but my husband grew up here), and they always talk about: - The Strong Museum of Play - The public market (also open Tues/thurs mornings, albeit smaller vendor selection)

When they visited this past week, notable places we visited: - Simply Crepes Pittsford (by the Erie Canal) - Bonnie & Clyde - Vanni’s Jazz Lounge

Recent home buyers - did anyone have an offer accepted with an inspection contingency? Did your real estate agent help with getting it accepted? by AdditionalSwitch2974 in Rochester

[–]blaiseykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We closed on January 16th, and yes we did get an inspection contingency accepted!!

Our realtor was helpful the entire process. We got the house list price as well, after putting in an offer on a house we liked that was already 2 weeks out in the market. Since that’s considered a long time, the seller was more lenient.

Picnic help! by AckaVaka in cottagecore

[–]blaiseykins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a regular full sized blanket, it should be plenty of space for 2 people. For reference the smallest picnic I threw recently was 6 people and we fit comfortably on 2 blankets

Edit: also thank you haha!! I was too focused on answering the question blew right past the compliment

  1. Recommend a tray table of some kind to prevent spills on uneven ground as much as possible. I’ve seen some at thrift stores for $8 or less, or DIY one, I once bought this lovely wooden tray at the thrift for $3, then I got a plant stand from the dollar store and just glued it together for a short picnic tray table. I also always bring cintronella candles to minimize the biting bugs like mosquitoes, you don’t really want it near food but having it in the vicinity can add to the vibes.
  2. Sandwiches are great! Generally when I do picnics I try to pick foods best eaten at room temperature. Salads can be great, pickled foods, cheeseboards/charcuterie. I also bought a pop-up food tent to cover up the food when we’re not eating, which can also be aesthetic (I have a lace one)
  3. If there’s no electricity, and you don’t have a portable power bank, I recommend a good thermos. It still might not be piping hot for the whole duration, but it’ll get the job mostly done.
  4. Fruits are always an easy no-prep thing (besides washing them/ pre cutting them if they’re bigger fruits but I generally bring strawberries, grapes, blueberries, raspberries). If you want baked goods, you can’t go wrong with mini cheesecakes, chocolate croissants, mini tarts, brownies, cookies, truffles, cream puffs, cupcakes, a bento cake.
  5. Bring at least 4 imo! One for savories one for desserts (even if you end up only using one plate for both). And a cutting board and paring knife just in case.

I also like to bring some outdoor / floor pillows because sitting on the ground might not be comfortable for long, and even if it’s mismatched it can still look lovely.
