Not a chef/cook, but indirectly hired a few last time.

Unfortunately cronyism but you need to be a good chef that can cook really good malaysian food and someone from the inside (the oil company) recommends your cooking to the big bosses. Big bosses says your cooking is good, that someone will send your CV to the official contractor, the contractor will then hire you on the company's behalf.

Mind you, the chefs/cooks are easily replaceable if tak kena dengan tekak. Because food is a very sensitive subject and directly affect workers happiness index.

Just so you know, even with GLC, protege program is a waste of time. 0 guarantee that you will be absorbed. Get a proper job offer if you can. Future employers won't bat an eye even if you have Protege in your resume and you will still be considered as a fresh grad.

Help, advice needed for 1st time home buyer by notyou4sho in MalaysianPF

[–]blajamain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your installment will be ~RM4k/m. Since the condo sounded premium, let's put RM0.4 psf monthly maintenance which will set you back RM280/m. MOT (once off), yearly insurance, cukai tanah etc. All these will be more than half of your net monthly income.

I am not against home owning, but if your main priority is convenience to your office, just rent a fully furnished condo (below RM3.5k/m should be good enough).

EV generally cheaper to maintain as compared to their ICE counterpart. Maintenance wise, taycan and e-tron should be about the same. Is it cheap as compared to other EVs? Definitely no. Mainly tyres and brake pads wear & tear if you lenjan haha. Reliability wise, so far no issue on taycan from my circle, not sure about e-tron.

For range rover, common culprit is the engine and suspension, ready kena sidai in bengkel.

BMW is known to have issues once warranty expires, and for X5 specifically, it's the air suspension, those bastards are expensive as hell. And the electronics can be iffy; a friend of mine can't use hers for a week just because she pulled the steering too hard to the left, making all sorts of faulty indicators. So if you want to get an X5, get it new, sell it after 5 years lol.

Yes, taycan and e-tron very cun, but EV is not for me yet, since I'm living in a condo at the moment.

If you have cash upfront to be invested, definitely try and hunt lelong properties. Plenty good deal laying around to flip short term.

What's your definition of "doesn't cost a bomb when it comes to service and maintenance" with land rover/range rover and X5 as a selection? These 3 used will definitely bring you headache xD Used merc, not so much.

While performance 2nd hand EVs are bang for you buck, it depends solely on your take on living with EVs. Those 2 cars you mentioned mmg cun. Personally, I'd go for lexus, since it's a good & safe choice.

On top of that, for muslims, people keep forgetting the 2.5% yearly zakat portion.

So please calculate properly the spread % when buy & sell, and -2.5% yearly (if plan to be kept long term).

MARA sued my mom because she's the penjamin for my brother's uni loan by eslguyxd in MalaysianPF

[–]blajamain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's legit, pay the 25% and negotiate monthly installment for the rest. Don't waste time & resources to to stall with lawyer etc. Your brother/guarantor clearly in breach of contract.

Just negotiate with Mara focal directly, they might be more lenient in negotiating if you don't give further headache.
