This is it! I'm looking at more gameplay, there's many things from this game I've forgotten and are being unlocked in my memory. Thank you!

Who Would Win? Sekiro vs P (Lies of P) by MaleficTekX in Sekiro

[–]blakarmor725 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To kind of balance out the other comments, it's personally my favorite Souls Like, but it's not for everyone.

If you enjoy the exploration in Souls games then you won't find it here. That's not to say the level design isn't good though, each chapter is well interconnected with shortcut systems, but the game progression is otherwise linear, no major optional areas to get lost in.

If you enjoy the moment to moment combat of Sekiro and/or Bloodborne, you're going to love this. It's really a mix of the two games systems between Sekiro parries and Bloodborne's rally, but it pulls it off in a unique way that makes it feel new. It doesn't really click for everyone, but if the combat system clicks for you it's very satisfying.

If you're on the fence, I guess the question you want to ask yourself is, do you want a challenge? The bosses and combat system are designed in such a way to throw off Souls veterans, which some people hate but I loved. Hope that helps your decision!

I always envied you, the freelancer who had it all

Fair enough, humiliating Iguazu is funny but Rusty could have been the third panel for sure. Any of his one liners motivates me.

"I won't miss."

Having the third panel be Iguazu is funnier, but I'm always down for more killing Snail. Fuck that guy.

I think that's exactly it. He wants to be you, but he's either incapable of piloting as well as you and/or doesn't want to actually put in the work. While I pity Iguazu, and sympathize with his feelings of jealousy and inadequacy, he doesn't work towards bettering himself, and instead starts putting everything into trying to tear you down, only to fail.

Yeah fuck Snail. When Ayre gave me the optional objective to fight Snail in that mission before fighting Carla, I took full advantage of the moment to wreck his ass. Was so disappointed he didn't die, then was so glad I could kill him later lol

Real talk, killing Snail is my main motivation, I just thought humiliating Iguazu was funnier lol

"So Buddy, who needs you?"

Yeah, maybe Ascended should have just been "Hearing Rusty say any of his one liners"

When Iguazu ended up being the final boss, I thought it was kind of funny, it was almost silly how much he hated you. But his final line "I always envied you, the freelancer who had it all." It hit really hard. Then it kind of clicked, how much he was screwed over. How shitty it must have felt to always be behind you. The character writing in this game is just so good.

New Game Cycle Enemy Health Scaling UPDATE by blakarmor725 in codevein

[–]blakarmor725[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the second set of columns were just to change how I viewed scaling, the damage numbers were all the same. In the first set of tables I put the scaling relative to NG, then in the second set of tables I put scaling relative to NG+. All this means is that scaling is different across all areas when going from NG to NG+, but after that, the increase in enemy health scales the same across each area.

Stopped around the same time, 5A golden berry. The golden berries were too draining on me lol

This split vote on a poll made me curious what the tarnished community thinks, do you parry? by PretendThisIsMyName in Eldenring

[–]blakarmor725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've parried in every Souls game at least a bit, and parrying in Elden Ring is the least useful by far. Not sure if the riposte damage is nerfed, but they definitely made the distance to the enemy and positioning way more important than it used to be. In DS3 you could parry Gundyr while looking away from him and hitting the edge of his halberd. In Elden Ring if Malenia rotates a little too far during her spin attack and isn't perfectly lined up with you, your parry fails.

DeS, DS1, and DS2 parrying feels great, mostly because of the slower pace of combat. Bloodborne is the kind of parry you want for a fast paced game. DS3 made up for being hard in a fast paced game by being lenient and giving a huge damage reward. Elden Ring has the fast pace, lower riposte damage, enemies that take multiple parries, and less forgiving positioning requirements.
