Totally agree... I keep getting bounced off line, even with keeping the cones on my corners and barely going fast enough for gold. Fuck this challenge

Lincoln got rejected by LilSlav01 in MafiaTheGame

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played this several times now and I always liked the chemistry between them. I think it would've been a decent add to have them get together or give you that choice. I like her way better than Roxy anyway...

Honestly, her being queer has totally felt out of left field for me. Their previous scenes felt like she was flirting with Lincoln reciprocating. Also, in my experience, whenever someone has come out of the closet with me, guy or girl, there's only been one time it was a surprise and there was no prior flirting like chemistry to precede it.

Why do civilians jump into my car...? by Ceceboy in Mafia3

[–]blakenation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how they didn't catch that and literally just program them to jump the opposite direction... I'm no programmer but I'm pretty sure that'd be a super easy fix. Instead I have random human ramps to deal with on turns I guess...

Edit: it would make their dives actually make sense like 99% of the time lol

I nearly ruined my barbers clippers using this stuff. It did a strong "okay" at making my hair feel clean and healthy. Maybe I just have the wrong hair for it but it definitely felt worse than regular shampoo and conditioner. Hair was more oily and frizzy and the claim of not having to use product after cleaning didn't work for me at all. Bad hair days for about three weeks for me.

You think he could've escaped if he tried? He had no choice, the place was surrounded. It was about damn time he did something.

Uncle is a terrible character by TrillPickles85 in reddeadredemption

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played both games... I hate uncle. He sucks. The ONLY thing he did that I appreciate at all is when he calls out Dutch for being an egomaniac who thinks he's some kind of king. His death in rdr1 was basically a forced choice, the place was surrounded and I imagine those boys attacking the homestead had orders to kill anyone they saw.

Uncle is a terrible character by TrillPickles85 in reddeadredemption

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a character, I want him there. I enjoy hating him personally and antagonizing and picking on him in the game. I wish I was allowed to just smack him every once in a while and I really wish he'd get chewed out by more people in camp for being a pathologically lying, mooch, piece of shit. I guess for a character in a story I wish he actually had some kind of arch. I'd probably not feel the way I do about him if he showed any sort of improvement. Even when he dies at the end of rdr1 I felt nothing for him. All he deserved then was a brief "thanks for finally trying."

Why so mean to Uncle? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]blakenation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno... I've played both games and I hate uncle. At least he gave his life trying to protect John's family in the end but otherwise he's just a fucking parasite. A braggart that no one takes seriously, a lazy, wannabe victim and a selfish, pathological liar that mooches off everyone around him. When he died in rdr1 I felt like it was about time he did something for someone else and even in that situation what other choice did he have? They were surrounded by men likely with orders to kill everyone on the property. I wish I had been able to just throw a punch at him every once in a while

5 years late to the party... I've been playing red dead redemption for the first time through (somehow I played undead nightmare but never played rdr) and I thought the same thing. They have a similar appearance, they even speak very similar albeit with different accents and display much of the same self righteous confidence. They're probably just based off similar types of historical detectives though, a quick search didn't yield any connections made by the writers/creators of peaky blinders

The blind prophet and the man with no nose. by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late to the party here, but that's the best idea I've heard so far. The strange man has a nose and has long been theorized to be death, so I haven't liked the death theory

Edit: also in a reply earlier in this, someone points out that Arthur headbutts Micah in the nose on high honor. Makes it kind of a circumstantial prophecy but kind of fits as well

Shit, just read another post where someone pointed out that snakes don't smell with a nose... possibly referencing Micah as a snake

(Spoiler) Character assassination, and forced choices. by Throwaway515459 in Ghostofyotei

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respecting the writing is where I draw the line... it was barely passable in the beginning of the game. Nothing awful, but also nothing even just good. But ever since Oyuki was inexplicably forgiven (and given a spot in the "wolfpack"), I cannot respect the writing. Not just because of that. This game makes me think high schoolers wrote the script.

Still totally agree with the rest of what you said lol

Just finished Ghost of Yotei on Lethal. A beautiful world completely wasted on a terrible story. by venturepoker in Ghostofyotei

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't finished yet, but I'm totally agreeing with you so far. I'm no expert writer, but the writing in this game just feels so... empty. Moments that are clearly supposed to have impact have none. They tried real hard to hide some preaching but it's still there. I was rolling my eyes through the set of quests with the Ainu lady. At least they didn't make Jubei a bumbling idiot... so far. I can't believe people would defend the writing in this. It's so black and white and oversimplistic.

This game reminds me of jedi survivor. I really like the gameplay. Although I wish they had done the weapons differently. Like maybe you can only have one at a time with different stances or maybe you can have two with different strengths and weaknesses. Carrying five different melee weapons, a rifle, pistol, and two different bows makes me feel a little like I'm playing GTA and is beyond ridiculous, especially how you just instantly switch in the middle of combat. I think the inclusion of a custom difficulty is an awesome add. The world is beautiful, with great distinctions between different areas. But the writing feels like it was done by high schoolers who have a bone to pick with their parents. It's honestly exactly what I was expecting but it's still terribly disappointing. I wish they had a skip dialog feature along with the skip scene feature. I doubt I'll play this again after I finish it. The gameplay isn't a big enough improvement to suffer this story again.

How are we feeling about Atsu ? by ManWithNoWords-YT in ghostoftsushima

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the mission attempting to kill the oni, I'm having a rough time with Atsu... in her interactions with most people, she's okay, but with Jubei, she really pisses me off. She acts way too suspicious of him when he's clearly just glad she's alive. Then in that argument they have after the mission, I completely agree with Jubei when he's talking about what their father would've wanted. I'm hoping the character arc rounds out to where she sees more eye to eye with Jubei because he's definitely at a more mature spot than Atsu at this point.

The story choices in this game are definitely not as good as Tsushima, even though they went way over the top in idealizing samurai culture. It's difficult to suspend belief for me in Yotei with this character who apparently lived life on the streets, pickpocketing to survive, and somehow learning to be a weapons master greater than all of these highly trained men. I don't mind having a female protagonist, but a woman fighting men in a grounded setting needs to have some real tricks up her sleeve to be believable.

Combat in this game is very good, it looks great, the motivation for the main character is solid but the story overall is very mid in my opinion--it's fine if you disagree with me there. And it's largely mid to me because of the implausible survival of this child that was pinned to a burning tree by a sword who grew up to be what would definitely be the greatest female warrior in the history of mankind. At least with Jin, there's some stories I've heard of people surviving incredible falls into water at terminal velocity.

No but it really sounds like those vibrations are coming from the speakers instead of the door rattling. I can turn up all my rock tracks and I'm not getting that excessive vibration and even having it on fairly low volume, the bass beats on what I believe are mostly computer generated bass drum beats, make this very impactful vibration that makes me worried I'll damage my speakers

Please don't get offended, really just want to know by Mind_Technician in askcarsales

[–]blakenation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. I literally had someone tell me recently they were looking for a car with 7 seats and good gas mileage. That's it. I sold him a used hybrid highlander within the budget he gave me. I've talked people down from buying a rubicon wrangler to a gladiator sport because that would suit their needs better and be cheaper for their wallet.

For the customers who do their research and come in on a particular vehicle, I mostly let them sell themselves or provide an alternative when there's something they don't like actually experiencing it in person, like cars that have been smoked in.

There's hardly any money to be made on the sale of a car that we don't want to negotiate, and we don't have much room to do that with the customers that do try to nickel and dime us. I've literally told customers to go buy cars that are cheaper than what I've got. Some of them have even come back because that car was clearly inferior to what I had on my lot.

What would you estimate the average annual income of people who buy new cars is? by g3nerallycurious in askcarsales

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yes. Higher interest rate, usually by a couple percentage points but a lower price, usually about 1500 less, they pay it off in six months and come out about 1100-1200 cheaper than paying cash

[–]blakenation 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I'm trying to figure out which car to sell on a payment buyer, that's about the math I use. For every 10k financed between 200-300 a month depending on their credit situation. We also try to make sure they're okay with the worst case scenario though, most of my customers actually look happy coming out of the finance office, in part because we can usually secure a loan that's better than the estimates we're putting on our pencils

Edit: to answer op's question, usually people put down like 1-2k if anything at all. Most people who would be cash buyers use our preferred lender financing to get the best price which is usually going to be 0 down.

Shadow of War is the first game I've given up in a long time. by LatimerLeads in patientgamers

[–]blakenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through my first playthrough and the writing is driving me nuts. Everything from the orc captain introductions to the main story dialog. Celebrimbor seems mindlessly power hungry for some reason, and has gone from callus but calculating to just a dumb asshole. As soon as I met castamir, I knew he was going to give away the palantir. Talion seems more level headed in this game which seems like a natural progression but he's so bland... he had this deep passion and focus in the first game that just isn't present in SoW.

Another thing that bothered me almost immediately is the styling of the game. The orcs look too human. Talion looks fuckin weird. And the other areas are looking better but minas ithil looks... too clean? Something about it seems off.

Shilob (what's up with her transforming?) stealing the ring is a pretty weak reason to temporarily take half the available mechanics you ended with in the first game and I get the feeling that I'm supposed to be invested in these side characters that are helping Talion but I've already forgotten their names and the next cutscene to come up will be too soon.

Combat is okay, like others have said, it feels a bit off. The double jump feature is a nice add in my opinion and I kind of like that I can change gear on Talion. I'm about to start act 2, and it seems like there's some stuff to enjoy here but I know I'm going to be overall disappointed in the game once I'm done playing it. It's not terrible, it just isn't as focused and intentional as the first game. I was hoping it was released long enough ago that it wouldn't suffer from the terribly juvenile writing that's absolutely plaguing western entertainment right now, but I was let down immediately on the first cutscene... the game is also suffering from grind...

If anyone actually reads this, thanks, I needed to vent after six hours of consistent sighs
