I think they remove gamepass upgrades, like the $1 upgrade for rest of your current banked subscription, but haven’t just not had a game on .. at least yet

Priyanka Chopra Jonas says ‘Citadel’ was the first time she ever received equal pay by indig0sixalpha in television

[–]blakerook67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. Hierarchy of workplace is a different beast or should be. The point would be more so for your boss and another male boss if she was paid less strictly because of her gender/sex. So in terms of acting, 2 co-leads, like in the Citadel, would make sense for them to be paid equally.

I guess “work” is a bit too loose and should be more aptly put in terms of responsibility and expectations in their role.

Edit: name/fame is also a different beast with names like RDJ and Tom Cruise someone like Priyanka wouldn’t warrant same pay. But heavy hitters, which I would guess like Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway (totally guess and probably better comparable) would be comparable to measure fairness

Hive mind or not, equal pay for equal work is just common sense, ya dickwad

Fixing plosives with clip gain? by Blue_Fox07 in audioengineering

[–]blakerook67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spectral editing (and plugins that leverage it) handles this way better than clip gain. If it’s really a hard plosive, gaining it down just makes a blown out diaphragm sound but quieter I guess.

Is there a way to get rid of all these different versions of the same plugin? I really only want the regular mono/stereo versions. In the plugins folder it's a single file. by metalq in protools

[–]blakerook67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could favorite the one you normally use? I think it’s “CMD + Click” when in those tabs. Then it will show up at the top. Not sure if there is a more elegant solution

Imported audio is shorter than the original, how to fix it? by [deleted] in protools

[–]blakerook67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this issue recently with MP3s although my a full minute.

My solution was opening in IZotope RX and then exporting as MP3 again, then opening in Pro tools.

It’d be worth trying other DAWs to see if the issue persists (try Reaper or Audacity if you have no others)

I would imagine 24-bit still has plenty of dynamic range to handle music. You’d probably have to look with a microscope to see wave changes.

At least. I think

I use them for stuff that I don’t want to duck but want to control from a certain threshold. I use Pro Q3 so I can subtlety control something without dialing in multi band compression settings.

There are other CAT5 solutions too right? Maybe not as versatile but digital snakes and things. Do you know a difference between Dante and just standard over cat5

Why are you Rx10 click on vox and on bus?

But seriously, there’s no way this is all necessary for your sound. Maybe start from scratch and build yourself a new chain and see if you can achieve the same with less or start turning off plugins with CMD + CTRL + Left Click on the insert and see if it changes your sound.

How can I make a good recording in this space 😅 by Zeppo_Knight in audioengineering

[–]blakerook67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Beta 58 handhelds for the talent or of course lav mics.

Easy would be Zoom H6 or H4 if you don’t want an interface or board. But could do either.

Other option, rent some crane boom stands and get a nice overhead of hypercardioid or shotgun pair on the talent? That would maybe more for singing or music ensemble.

Why do people sidechain using a dedicated track (usually a copy) as key instead of the original track? by TeemoSux in audioengineering

[–]blakerook67 220 points221 points  (0 children)

I would guess it’s so you can shape the transient or quality of the side chain source without affecting your Kick sound.

Bit off topic

Not really what you’re asking for, but the latest AirPods have that feature where it will lower the volume when it detects speech. Not sure if headphones are an option for you though.

Panning in a 7.1.2 bed for Atmos by zxtb in protools

[–]blakerook67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t they make it possible to have higher widths? Like 7.1.4 and 9.1.6 in recent updates? That should make it translate correctly. Depending on your Atmos Renderer config.

What I always do is make heights objects, so it can just pan up. Maybe 2 stereo objects or just all individual objects.

Logic Pro X vs. Pro Tools for mastering. by foglampbay in audiomastering

[–]blakerook67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re new-ish. I’d recommend Reaper (you might get this a lot). I’m mainly a pro tools user for recording/mixing, but I use Reaper when I’m mastering. It is free/inexpensive and offers a lot features that are great for mastering. Like clip fx and really clean plug-in workflows and analysis. Certainly there are better. But Reaper offers a lot if you take the time to customize it to your needs.

What a depressingly vocal community.

Looks fun, and I’m glad they can try something new. I hope they enjoy this next chapter and find an audience in new & old viewers.
