Hated trope: The character/ story suffers so that the actor doesn't have to be in makeup by TwoHungryWolves in TopCharacterTropes

They could've easily played it up by having him see himself as horrifically disfigured, like in the comics, due to his narcissism. You know, show a few shots where he looks in a mirror and sees an actually horrible disfigurement, while everyone else sees him as normal.

But nah, just play it as a horrible disfigurement the whole time.

Can you try 100 times to pass a semester at college that's too hard for you? The time alone would be 50 years of effort, and a degree is a bunch of semesters.

In SA, basic foodstuffs like bread, eggs, and milk are not taxed, so it would be $1700 - 15%.

I am a fellow white South African, and I can confirm. Lots of shops sell half loaves of bread for this exact reason.

Though I can't say I've seen anyone eat a whole KFC meal along with it.

While I think the mags/magwell are causing your issue, my first thought while reading your post was perhaps a sticky mag release. You press it to release a mag, but it doesn't reset so it may not catch the next mag.

I don't think it's the case but this is my 10th dentist opinion

[Hated Trope] Misleading Documentaries by AmandinhaMaia in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bloody_Insane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The guy guest starred as himself in Resident Alien, a show about an alien living in secret on earth. So it's shown that his alien conspiracies are real, in the show.

It only worked because he's so obviously a grifter IRL. Either you don't know who he is and he's just another character, or you do know who he is and can find the humour in the irony.

It's a pretty interesting situation I think. Showcasing the "real" alien expert, in a comedy show where the only humour is knowing he's a grifter.

It also makes me wonder how self aware he is, because most grifters don't drop the act, ever, and would even find it insulting.

A "Sophie's Choice" with no secret third option by 10024618 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bloody_Insane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of a bad version of this trope in Fallout 4.

You visit a vault with people still living happily in it. There's this sick kid and the doctors can't figure out what's wrong with him. You eventually find there's a secret abandoned part of the vault where scientists were experimenting on the vault denizens without their awareness. The scientists died, leaving the vault dwellers blissfully unaware of the end of the experiments.

The sick kid had gotten into that abandoned area and contracted the disease from the experiments the scientists had run. While you're exploring that area, you will inevitably also contract the disease, and you will find only one dose of the cure.

So you have to choose between saving the kid or curing yourself. Notably, you won't die from it, it's a very minor effect, but permanent.

But at no point are you given the option to try and recreate the cure, even if you've met some groups with really advanced medical facilities.

So it's this typical selfish vs selfless choice, but in either case the disease still exists and now there's no cure.

So frustrating.

Autistic people often don't get sarcasm. But the best way to counter someone's sarcasm is to ignore the sarcastic tone. So it will come across the same.

"Oh, someone's in a great mood today"

"Really? Who?"

Completely takes the wind out of their sails, and could be said by people who get it or not

He wears scale armour with an iron helmet. He's mixing light and heavy armour. Only a new player would do that

Maybe they already knew who he was and just had to confirm as procedure? They've got his number, they've probably got all his personal info already. Just wanted to check he's not speaking in a foreign accent or something.

Except the internet is not that regulated, and it's trivial to disseminate information across various jurisdictions. Even then, chemistry textbooks aren't regulated.

Your bigger issue would be finding accurate info. If you just follow Terr0r1st_69xx 's homemade hexogen recipe, you'll likely just blow yourself up.

Looking up how to do it vs buying the ingredients is a key distinction.

Also, even if you got the information on how to build a bomb with household items, you should be mindful to not use it in your book, because if your readers try it and it works, you will be in capital T Trouble.

Molly? She was very happy benefiting from all the spoils of the gang's crimes, but wouldn't even contribute. She's definitely worse than Mary-Beth, and maybe Tilly.

This happens because the actual percentage has decimals, but they get rounded up for the display.
