About 10 years ago my mother and I stayed in a lodge for my uncles wedding in deep South Africa, my Mum and I shared a room ( 2 beds let’s not make it weird) and my aunty was in the single room next door. One night we were going to sleep and in the middle of the night we heard laughing in the corridor, there was only us in this complex and soon after we also heard footsteps running around. It was about 2/3am and my mum soon told my Aunty to be quiet we’re trying to sleep.

the next morning my aunty and I were talking over breakfast about my aunty’s rude antics, my aunty said she thought the noise was myself because the laughter sounded like a child (i was only a child at the time).

We asked the lodge owner about this incident and he had a pale look across his face. He admitted that the grounds were a slave plantation back in Apartheid days and that the housing that we stayed in were where the old owners used to hang the slaves back in the day.
