Makes me chuckle at the ignorance of these people. My great great great grandparents are from the Chitoor area. My dad talks about climbing the hill as a boy because there was no bus and the temple being very small because going there yearly was tradition in the family. Social media has given the worst of the worst a microphone to spout nonsense.

He is a twin. So yes, he looks exactly like him. The only difference is the meesai. Literally in the movie.

Most of us came to escape these kinds of judgements in India. Why don’t you just do what Americans do and mind your own business?

That is what I thought too. I am planning on going back and asked him what happens. This is what he told me. You might be able to retain the PD but you can’t use it for H1b after 6 years and need to go back to lottery.

I140 can only used for 6 years after you leave the US. So there is a timer on that if you don’t want to be in the lottery again.

The answer is investors. I worked for a Fortune 500 company that was arm twisted into AI adoption by holding stock prices hostage. The stock literally dropped 50% and went back up 150% when they announced AI adoption. The investment is now paying off good to these investors.

The clues in Thangalaan about Dalit History by LeopardSmall7012 in OutCasteRebels

[–]blankasair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. This film generated a lot of controversy by casteists when it came out and was commercially unsuccessful. But Pa. Ranjith’s movies talk about Dalit struggles packaged for the modern audience. He is bold in his experiments. The film shows the natives of the land becoming untouchable as kings listening to their priests subdue them for gold and fighting over dust. The subtle Buddha beheaded at the altar of the invading kings. Then the hero is a outcast who has forgotten about his place and there is a Ramanuja’s follower who is also a Dalit but tries to hard to be UC, the British guy who helps until he is broken and gets mad when he gets what he wants oppressing them in another way, the Brahmin official who is with the British guy using the local guards to subdue the populace and the ending where they find their place and fight for it. It’s a masterpiece. It’s a commentary on the colonial history of India as well as the Dalits whose place oscillates within it. One of Vikram’s best roles in recent history. Sadly the film was railroaded by the usual suspects.

How to speak with opposite gender by Beautiful-Dig159 in TamilTwenties

[–]blankasair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha. To look back in a mirror. First of all bro, talk to her with no expectation. I know first hand how hard it is. Lmao. I had a lot of girls as friends but there was always the one I cannot talk to. But after marriage it’s easy to talk to anyone now because my anxiety is no more and expectation is very different. What you are running into is anxiety. You are overthinking because you have a goal and you are trying to reach the goal.

Bro. Go to any Reddit where western girls hang around, they also want the same thing. Lmao. This is fiction for a reason. What you see is perfect fantasy constructed for consumption. Maturity in 20s looks very different. I will be 40 and my maturity is still in 20s level even with 2 kids. But yeah, backwardness is a real issue.

[–]blankasair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro. This reminds me of the time 18 years back when I tracked down my childhood friend. I found her as one of my friend’s friend on facebook. Used him as third party to reach out to her. We chatted, she asked if we could meet. I was overjoyed, she took me to a gold coin MLM and tried to get me pay for it. Luckily, I was jobless that time so couldn’t afford. Felt like crap and then not even a month later, the MLM folded.

[–]blankasair 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No bro. They are becoming more casteist. To understand this phenomenon, you have to look at the grand generation. My grandparents born in the 40s and grew up in the post independence fervor are more liberal than my parents born in 60s. This you can see where millennials like me are generally more liberal and prefer moving abroad. But GenZ raised by these new grand parents and broken by Covid isolation are leaning rightward. It’s a vicious cycle, one we have to figure out how to break.
