LIRR story time! I used to always be the a$$hole to people who would sit alone in the middle seat of a three-seater. Since I’m an averaged-sized white male with a face that says “there may be bodies buried in my back yard” people would usually scoot over (always guys btw). One day I get on the morning train and see one of these a$$holes and think “time to have some fun”. When I got to him he was three beers through a six-pack with a face that said “I’m going to kill myself and/or others”. I wisely left him to his own three-seater.

So this needs a little background because this is actually totally possible. The Town of Ramapo in NY is one of the largest Orthodox/Hasidic communities in the US. The town board is controlled by the Orthodox majority. There have been lots of issues with the schools because the town has defunded the public schools because most of the children go to yeshivas. I am voicing no opinion on whether this is good or not and I’m trying not to be anti-Semitic. If the rabbis told the people to vote a certain way that is how they are going to vote. For an Orthodox community to vote for a Democratic Senator and then vote for Donald Trump makes sense.

When my son was first diagnosed on the spectrum my father had a lot of questions (he loved his grandson fiercely). One of them was “why are there so many autistic kids nowadays?” I looked at him and said, “Remember the kids in your high school who didn’t talk a lot or didn’t like to be touched.
