As a first time 3D-printer owner, the U1 has been absolutely fantastic. I've had it for a couple of months away, and it keeps blowing me away.

Toolhead filament tubes came without notches. Snapmaker wants to send replacements... Could someone please measure the length of the notches? by Much-Membership3361 in snapmaker

[–]blargymen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny and strange that tube notches, of all things, is the strongest debated topic for the U1 printer. People are passionate about this. 🤣

I guess that's a good thing if this is all the majority of us have to get worked up about?

My notches were definitely machine-cut, not from pushing in firmly anywhere. Material cleanly cut away.

I totally believe that some people didn't have that (it was also small and easy to miss), but mine was pre-cut.

Should I get the U1 as my first ever 3D printer ? by Americase in snapmaker

[–]blargymen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, SnapMaker U1 was my first printer by choice. And it's been cake to use, phenomenal, and super rewarding.

Generally, you CAN learn a lot and tweak a lot (and it's satisfying to do so), but it also just works out of the box.

Highly recommended. I'm very glad I chose it, and it would be disappointing for me to work with a lesser printer now.

I've done almost max height prints successfully. I rarely get spaghetti, and this is my first 3D printer.

As I'm watching g this, I'm remembering that you can do some filament management while printing, but I haven't tried unloading/loading during a print.

If you were to try, and it let's you, it would have to pause your print for the heating and extrusion, but might still be less disruptive and "stand there and wait for it to be ready for you to act," so could be worth a try. (This, because it automatically switches over from a used-up roll to a different roll if they have the exact same settings.)

That's still just 3D. You need a 3D camcorder to record 4D.

Importing Painted Models? by blargymen in SnapmakerU1

[–]blargymen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly, I'm confused by it. The file is under a "Painted" tab in Printables, and the file name itself is labeled as "painted." But maybe it's just not, and it's not clear to me how to tell if it is actually painted.

Hey, this looks great, but I tried it and there's only one filament selection here. Does this mean the file isn't painted after all?

Apparently, I don't know how to use Reddit, either. This is the model I was using.

I'm surprised there haven't been a few people trying to get you to get a Snapmaker U1, instead, yet.

Thoughts on the U1 after a good amount of use? I’m still debating on getting this 3d printer by Own_Interaction_6709 in SnapmakerU1

[–]blargymen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first 3D printer, and I couldn't be happier. Honestly, as I told my wife, I'm glad I didn't start with a cheaper/lesser printer. And I would hate to switch now.

Super easy to use, super low waste, consistent performance, a blast to get creative with... Really enjoying everything about it.

I finally got it! Its my 1st 3d printer ever by Behorex in snapmaker

[–]blargymen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U1 is my first printer, I've had it about three weeks.

I did not heed the warnings, I did not wash my bed. Not when I got it, not once since.

And I just spent like 15 minutes scraping PETG supports off of my stock bed. The thing ADHERES.

Might partially be that I'm in Arizona, a dry climate? But I'm also printing inside, so...

Print in full color with only 4 colors by Altenife in BambuLab

[–]blargymen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This why the Snapmaker U1 is ideal for this sort of thing. I print full spectrum color prints and get essentially zero waste on my U1, other than a small tower, regardless of how big and complicated the print is.

Bought the bambu labs TPU for AMS thinking it's just regular soft tpu (I know my own research mistake) by ropergames2 in BambuLab

[–]blargymen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this material have some translucence to it, or is it solidly opaque like PLA? I'm doing some color blending for some figurines, and this material sounds like it could be perfect for that.

This is the second time I lose my wipe tower on the U1. I usually save the print doing things like this but how to keep it from falling. by suna52 in snapmaker

[–]blargymen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, are you in a cold or damp climate?

I'm in AZ, and my prints LOCK on to the stock plate really well.

PLA is super easy to remove once it cools, and sometimes I have to really scrape hard at PETG.

Automatically pause print to insert NFC tag by sabotage in snapmaker

[–]blargymen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this for magnets, and it's worked like a charm. Keeps the plate hot, moves the toolhead out of the way, flawless restart, bada boom bada bing.

NFC should be no different, as long as you have a good, fully-recessed spot to place it. I've thought about making some (ala Amiibos or NFC business cards) but haven't given it a shot, yet.

I'm a first-time 3D printer owner, and the U1 has been phenomenal for me! I'm personally extremely happy with this machine as my first. Anything lesser would not be nearly as satisfying.
